The Elevator Dilemma: A Poem

I don't know these people.

I shouldn't say anything.

But where should I look?

The glowing buttons?

The metallic doors?

All I see is my blurred reflection, full of insecurity.

Oh shit.

I glanced at one of them.

I'm about to smile, but

They looked away.

The moving box halts.

The doors open.

I walk out with my head down low.

I hope I never see them again.
