Everyone discusses how last weekend they stayed in bed and binge watched the latest season of House of Cards on Netflix, but have you ever heard someone admit that they watched YouTube all day and not Netflix? Falling in love with a YouTube personality is a dangerous adventure. Instead of falling in love with a fictional character from a television show, you fall in love with a genuine person who's making themselves vulnerable to a stranger through a computer screen.
1. You watch one simple video.
It has an interesting title. You click. You start your descent.
2. You keep clicking "Next Video" and next thing you know it's been four hours.
It's a scary feeling, you forgot to go to yoga, eat dinner and do your homework for tomorrow. They were just too intriguing.
3. Yet you keep clicking because their face swap challenge video is next.
Then a 'would you rather' tag, then a 'beanboozled challenge,' even more reason to keep watching.
4. You hit "Subscribe" to make sure you keep up with their upcoming videos.
You tell yourself you will come back at a more convenient time and watch more.
5. When you get a notification that they uploaded - you get so excited and drop everything to watch it.
It's hard, and this adds to the procrastination they caused when you first started watching them.
6. You come back to watch more and realize that they aren't just funny, they're really inspiring.
They stand for LGBTQ rights, give advice, and basically just act like they are your best friend.
7. You find them on social media and immediately begin stalking their profile.
"OMG 52 weeks ago they ate Pinkberry, what a coincidence, I had Pinkberry yesterday!" *Disclaimer: I actually said this a couple of weeks ago when stalking Ricky Dillon's Instagram.
8. Through that you find out they have either starred in a movie, written a book, or have an album coming out.
Now you have more than one way to keep up with this person!!
9. You read every article, watch every video, look at every picture, and thank the stars for clicking that first video.
You're now officially obsessed. There's no turning back.
10. A few weeks later you do the whole cycle again with a different Youtuber.
There's absolutely no shame. Trust me, I'm subscribed to 131 different YouTube channels.
