The Bible states "Pride goes before destruction" in Proverbs 16:18 but have you ever related that to your own life? Have you ever found yourself in a situation to which you thought you were better than anyone else in that general task, or even just in general? I know that I have and still do. It's natural for us, as humans, to feel this way from time to time; not that it makes it okay to feel this way. In fact Solomon says "Pride brings a man low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor" in Proverbs 29:23. It's probably important to note that Solomon was the King of Judah from 970 BC till 930 BC. Solomon was also a man of the Lord who feared God, not in the negative view of the word but rather in the way which means he acknowledged God was supreme and respected him. Solomon warned us about becoming prideful because he knew that our pride can lead us not only into a false sense of confidence but also to be arrogant. For example; I walk into French class thinking to myself "I have taken French before nobody is going to understand the teacher better then me." That would be incredibly arrogant of me to think, would it not? Obviously, I do not know if anyone else in the class has previously taken French or is of French heritage but I had already pre-determined that I was the best. Another example would be if someone had never lost a fight in their life decided to go toe-to-toe with the number one boxer of all time only to find that they are not the best fighter in the world and, surprise, more then likely found theirself losing the fight. My point is that if we allow ourselves to become prideful, not only do we tend to make more heinous decisions we also forget to exalt God and see his glory in our situation. Every talent we posses is a gift from our Father and we should use that gift to glorify him and not ourselves. There would be no need for me to learn French if I was only going to speak French in veiled attempts to sleep with more women however, if I learn French to a point that I am able to hold a decent conversation with someone and take the opportunity to teach them about God not only am I serving my Father but I am stewarding his gift. Someone is confused now. Yes, I said that my ability to learn French was a gift from God. It's not a gift in the terms of I was supernaturally able to know French but a gift in the terms of I was provided the opportunity, time, patience and ability to retain the language itself. If we live as if everything we do is a gift from God I bet the world would be a happier and more humbled place. Next time you find yourself swelling with pride remind yourself that "Pride goes before destruction!"

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
