If you haven’t heard about DNCE, or at least listened to their radio hit "Cake by the Ocean," than either you’ve been living under a rock, or possibly you were on a mission trip in a developing country without any access to the internet, radio, or TV, which in that case is acceptable.

DNCE is killin’ the game right now. Their single "Cake by the Ocean" is a recent top 10 and platinum hit that you literally cannot run away from because it plays everywhere, but the great thing is, you don’t want to run away from it. This is the kind of song that makes you feel like dancing and just being generally happy/running for president

Something that I’ve learned from these guys is that fun and funk is pretty much their brand. Their performances make you feel like you’re part of the biggest party in the world. A huge part of that is their stage presence. Bassist Cole Whittle will literally throw himself on the floor and put his feet in the air while playing his instrument, and lead singer Joe Jonas will jump into a crowd of thousands. But another aspect of their party-funkiness are their songs, a lot which are yet to be released.

I had the honor of hearing some at two of their concerts. Here they are, in no particular order of awesomeness.

"DNCE"

Yes, DNCE has a song called "DNCE," and it is fantastic. It’s a song that describes the whole aspect of the band perfectly. They’re all about a good time and knowing that you don’t have to be a perfect dancer to get up and dance and that’s what this song is.

"Naked"

OK, so this song is my second favorite and it’s pretty much self-explanatory. It is a funky and catchy song about wanting to be naked with another human being. What I love about this one is that DNCE doesn’t get too complex with the point they’re trying to make. They just up and say it. It’s a song about lust, and sometimes that’s all we really need.

“I wanna be naked with you, at least I’m telling the truth. I wanna be naked with you, so leave your clothes on the floor, put a sock on the door.”

"DR You"

Another funky-fun song that makes you want to dance. Because of too-close-to-speaker syndrome (literally being too close to the speakers to hear all the words), I can’t get the exact meaning of this one but it sounds like another song about lust because, according to DNCE, this girl in the song is going to need a real good doctor. Hm, you don’t say?

"Good Day"

This one is probably my favorite one of theirs so far. Joe describes this song as one about hangovers. You went to a club, you drank a little too much, and you’re really feeling it in the morning. However, you don’t regret it all. During their performance, Joe and Cole lay on the floor to indicate their hangover pains, but then they get back up and jump around. They send such an important message of not letting your hangover get you down. Eat a burger and fries and be happy!

“Today is gonna be a good day, don’t care what anybody else says, I don’t need a fortune cookie to tell me the way I’m feeling today is gonna be a good day”

"Body Moves"

I don’t really compare DNCE to other bands because I think their sound is so unique and different, but this one definitely reminded me of something that old-school Maroon 5 would come up with and that’s a compliment because old school Maroon 5 is my shit. This is a sexy one too and I slowly realized that that was another thing the band seem to be going for in terms of their sound.

I’m pretty pumped for this band to take over the world with their different dynamic and style of music. The members of DNCE truly seem like they were created for the purpose of taking over the world with this band together.

The album has no set date or track list yet but is said to be released around August!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
