"I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was" is the first line of the original Pokemon anime intro. Ash's adventures and hardships have inspired many people around the world, and he is the prototype of all adventurers. Most recently, Ash has been traveling through the Kalos region, the 6th Pokemon region to date. The Kalos region anime has seen a significant increase in the quality of animation, battles, and character development. Throughout the series Ash made many friends, such as Serena and Clemont, and went through many adventures with his Pokemon. Along with one of his Pokemon, the starter Pokemon Greninja, he unlocked a new from of synchronized evolution that demonstrated the close bond between human and Pokemon. This transformation of Greninja gave it increased agility and power as well as a large Water Shuriken on its back.
Ash and Greninja had to understand each other in order to achieve this higher form. Despite their power, Ash and Greninja lost in the Pokemon league against Alain and his Mega Charizard. This was another loss that added to Ash's losing streak of every single Pokemon league he has ever been to. This implies that no matter how hard you try you will always end up losing. Not only that, but Ash is leaving the Kalos region, and he is saying goodbye to many of his Pokemon as well, including Greninja.
However, he won't be traveling to the next region with the knowledge he gained from the Kalos region. In fact, the new anime is a complete reboot featuring an immature puerile young Ash attending school in a tropical paradise.
This complete reversal of Ash's character, along with the inappropriate animation style, marks the death of everything that Ash and the Pokemon anime have stood for. Ash is no longer an adventurer seeking to be the greatest Pokemon master, but rather he is a small kid that runs across beaches on a tropical island, not having any sense of purpose in life. On top of that, he still hasn't achieved his unrealized dream of becoming a Pokemon master. This degradation has reduced the Pokemon anime to nothing more than a toddler's show full of immature jokes and the skeletons of the ideals of Pokemon. Rest in peace, Pokemon anime.
