The Cure To Dying
Adrianna Roberts

I have some life news to share with you. It's quite an extremely tragic fact of my life. Most of you may know this about me, but it might be news to some of you. I am dying. You did indeed read that right. I am dying, and there is nothing I can do to prevent it. From the day I was born, I began to die. I currently do not have a terminal disease or some ridiculous infection. I am simply dying. Due to the toxic evil in this divine world, there is death. That death has crept upon me and is slowly taking over.

Enough about me dying; let's talk about you. I have some shocking news for you. You, too, are dying. What are we going to do about this morbid ending waiting to take our lives? I may have an answer, one that could cure dying -- living. Think about it. We do not have any control of dying. Of course, we can hold it off by attempting to live healthy lives or speak countless prayers, but the reality is we are all eventually going to die because we are human. Should we just sit around and wait to die? Absolutely not. No, we live.

Living is a verb. Ponder what it means to live and write it down. Now, I am not the kind of woman to do things halfway. I don't know about you, but I do things to the fullest. You may think I am naive to the real world. You may think I do not understand. You are probably right. But I do understand this, because I have seen people live. My uncle was a paratrooper in the Army, and he was a man who lived. When he was diagnosed with lymphoma, his body quit living -- but he did not.

My best friend's mom was told how many days she had left to live. She did not dwell on that. Instead, she lived. One night she came running into my friend's room and told us we were going to prank our youth pastor by toilet-papering his car.

My grandmother's wiener dog is currently in bad shape. His body has given up, but his soul is living. His tail wags and his ears flip when he hears our voices. He is still kicking.

Living is not only reserved for those who are close to dying. My future roommate is living, and she is very healthy. She is exploring Europe as I type this up. My mother is living, as she goes to work, yet still makes time to play Pokemon with my brother. The kids at my job are living by participating in new activities.

What can you do to live? Living is trying new foods, going new places, experiencing out-of-the-ordinary things, waking up to go to work and make someone smile and so much more. Living is not limited to going on grand vacations or eating exotic foods. However, living is going out of your comfort zone on a daily basis and growing as a human. If you are not growing, you are dwelling in dying. Meet new people, go skydiving, eat an alligator, smile at a stranger and drive your car with the radio blasting.

You know what the tragic fact of life is. But now you know the cure. Go live and love. As people, we accidentally get wrapped up in our own lives and the other people in our lives go unnoticed. We miss out on the obvious things because we are too concerned with the negative things. You were presented with a life to live. Celebrate that you are however many years not dead! Make a big deal out of the small things, compliment your neighbor, and share your cookie with a co-worker. You have the potential to make lemonade with the lemons that have death written all over them. Add some sugar, and you will be set. Enjoy your "living" lemonade.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
