The Crazy Things We Do For a Like

We've all done something for a like and now is the time to be honest about it.

If you're on social media then at some point or another you have done something for a like, or a share, or a retweet, a reblog, a pin, or whatever term your choice of social network uses. And honestly, creating a "good" or "quality" profile is an art. We live in a time where online profiles are everything; They empower, degrade, motivate, inspire, help us stay connected and much more. But no matter what, we all have done something for a like and here are just few of those instances when social media got the better of us:

1. When you wait to post something until you think it's a "good time to post"

Maybe it's an hour or two, maybe it's until the next day, or maybe you're going to hold off until Thursday comes around and post a nice #tbt. Whatever it may be, we wait until we think the most people are checking their phones so that way we can get the most amount of likes possible. Pretty strategic if you ask me.

2. When people snapchat friends to "like the most recent"

I'm sorry, but this could not be more annoying. In fact, it makes people not want to like your post. Sorry not sorry.

3. The endless #LikeForLike

Honestly this is just nauseating.

4. Those messages in group chats from friends saying "911 someone give me a witty caption for this!!!"

A sure bet to getting some extra likes is having your followers get a little chuckle out of it and sometimes these jokes don't come so easily so most of us reach out to friends for help. Personally, I go for the classic pun. Nothing is better than a good pun.

5. When you do something completely outrageous, possibly life threatening, or completely stupid for a video or picture.

"Pics or it didn't happen" - that is the world we live in. If you don't have the video to back up your crazy, awesome, and hilarious story. . . sorry man, I'm not interested.

6. When people hashtag 6 million things a picture.

Honest to God, I really don't think this works for most people... but we do it, and we do it wayyyyy to much

7. When you use 4 different apps to edit your picture before you even post it.

You gotta do what you gotta do girl friend. My usual chain is Facetune, then Afterlight, then Vsco, and then fianlly post it on Instagram. It's quit the process.

8. Those poor, unfortunate people that feel the need to pay for likes and/or followers...

....I pray for you

9. Those people that you don't unfollow and continue to put up with on social media simply because they typically like your posts.

We all have those people that you don't particularly like, those people that post way too many selfies, the ones who continue to share their radical political views even though no on asked, and those people that are just plain annoying. Putting up with them is just the price you pay for a like.

10. Having a camera roll full of the same few pictures because you have to have the "perfect" one to post.

I'm sorry but the difference in centimeters of your hand placement, or the fact that one hair is out of place, or even that your head is tilted slightly more or less to one side will probably not be the reason why I like or don't like your picture so please stop stressing and make some room in your phone storage.

11. When you feel that your picture isn't getting enough likes so you delete it and post it later hoping to get more.

If you're going to do this, please don't lie and say your post was "deleted by accident"... we all know what you're doing and I would probably judge you less if you were honest about it.

12. When you pick the most basic artsy picture and include an inspirational quote caption.

I understand, you have to mix it up from the squad pics and selfies.

13. When you take a picture with any available baby or cute small animal because you know it's a sure thing to get hella likes

It works...every time... Thank you too all of those random puppies I've taken pictures with over the years, I owe you one.

14. When you pay a ridiculous amount of money to get an outfit and go to an event just so you can take a picture there

You know social media really got the better of you when you actually had a terrible time at where ever you went but your pictures looks like you had the time of your life.

15. When you feel like you haven't posted a "good picture" in a while (aka a picture with a lot of likes) so you take some time out of your day to do a mini photo shoot and post a selfie.

Turn up Beyonce, find some good lighting, and get busy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
