Videos like this are all over YouTube. Shopping challenges often have time, money, or other restrictions. The challenge tests how well you know a friends style but also takes people out of their comfort zone and has them wear something they maybe would not usually wear.
My friend, and fellow Odyssey writer, Kevin and I accepted the challenge. We went to Aeropostale, and gave ourselves 20 minutes to find an inexpensive outfit for the other person. The outcome was better than expected. We did not use the full 20 minutes. Read our thoughts on how it went below.
Lauren's Opinion:
Shopping for Kevin was a lot of fun. I had something in mind that I knew he could pull off. Once we got in the store I saw colored pants with rips and decided to base the rest of the outfit around that. Kevin wears a lot of sweatshirts so I decided a black and gray one would look nice and not distract from the like pink pants. To finish off the look, I picked out a jean jacket and black baseball cap.
The outfit he picked out for me was not necessarily something I would have purchased myself only because it included camouflage. After trying it on, however, I really liked it. He paired it with a black t-shirt and ripped jeans, which looked really good together. Overall, I loved the outfit he chose. It was something I was comfortable wearing but still different from my everyday look.
Kevin's Opinion:
When Lauren texted me about this challenge, I said yes right away. We met up the next day and I was ready for it. I liked picking out her outfit because I got to put my own style into it. It was kind of hard but once I did a lap around the store, I figured out what I wanted to do. I picked out light ripped jeans, a black t-shirt, and a camo jacket.
The outfit she chose for me was not too bad. I wasn't a fan of how the pants fit, but I think I looked good in what she picked out.
