First off, I have to say there will be some spoilers. So exit now if you don’t want any spoilers! While I will not mention major plot points, I will still mention things that were not in the trailers.
Spoilers below!
Captain America: Civil War was wicked awesome! But, I’m going to address some concerns I had that I know others had as well: one, I thought that there were going to be too many characters. Captain America, Bucky, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Ant-Man, Iron Man, War Machine, Vision, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Black Widow. That’s a lot of characters to be in one movie. While not all of them were in the entire movie, most of them had decent screen time. Another major concern of mine was the re-casting of Spider-Man. I loved Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and I was heartbroken when he could not reprise his role as Spider-Man. I also was nervous about that supposed fight scene at the airport because it looked rather stupid.
However, I was happily proved wrong. The Russo brothers have made another spectacular movie.
Spider-Man is great; he had his quips and is played by an actual teenager this time.
There is lots of Bucky screen time and he has quite a few lines this time! Some things were explained, like how he can be controlled and other parts about his past, too.
The fight scene at the airport was well done. While it does look ridiculous at first, you soon forget that they are running at each other Lord of the Rings style.
Every character has development, which in a 2.5-hour movie with an insane amount of characters is surprising, but oh so satisfying.
There's lots of humor. It's not dumb or forced humor - it is genuine humor that I could totally see the actors just doing to goof around and be silly, but the directors decided to keep it and use it in the actual movie. The humor always comes at the right time, too.
At the introduction of Black Panther and throughout most of the movie, I really did not like him. However, he goes through a transformation that made me just fall in love with the character.
Scarlet Witch is the most badass motherf*cker because her abilities are by far the most powerful out of all of the Avengers and she kicks serious ass.
Hawkeye is back and he is just as sassy, brave, and perfect as ever. Jeremy Renner knows how to play Hawkeye flawlessly. Whenever he was on screen, my heart melted a little bit.
There was plenty of Bucky, thankfully because not only do I love the character, but also Sebastian Stan is just really pretty.
One of my only complaints is that there is not enough Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye. Otherwise, it is phenomenal. I saw it once, but I will probably see it each week until it goes out of theaters, that’s how fantastic it is. It is absolutely a must-see because I think it is the best Marvel movie yet!
