The Breakdown Of Social Media
agenciadenoticias.unal.edu

As technology is advancing, the breakdown of communication and social media is a hot topic.

We use editing applications to define us on social media even though people know what you look like in reality. We text and message through phones and computers, even though you wouldn’t say that one thing, in person. Right now, this article is being shown through phones, computers, and other technological uses. Are you trying to catfish somebody? We always say it is better to talk face to face, but as generations have become more technological, youth today want to do everything for contact through technology, such as texting or messaging on a social media site. Some slowly lose their self-confidence to say what they want because they get nervous. Just communicate face to face.

We connect through a gadget, and at times get frustrated at the phone or computer if it is slow. In the past it would take three to four days to have someone hear what they have to say. We live in such a technological world like no other. You are at dinner, people go on their phones. You are at the movies and you see a snapchat flash go off. You are at a party or gathering and all you see is picture after picture being taken. Everyone should realize one way or another that cellphones are not the only option to reach out to someone.

Imagine if we all said what we wanted to say? Or, if we all expressed our emotions through face to face confrontation? If most of society stopped caring about the irrelevant people and ideas brought on to us and focus on the important things in life, they would realize so much. The cellphone showed people that you go on instagram and see a picture of someone trying too hard or some just posting pictures of what they are doing in the moment. And, that is all perfectly fine. Twitter will have someone notice that there are subtweets about what people want to say, but won’t say it, so it is tweeted.

Most people can use social media as a way to meet people. Others use it as a way to be noticed and or use it to express the emotions they can’t express in reality. Life, in a technological world is not the reality people will end up wanting. Technology increases ways for communication, which is fascinating and interesting. I'm hoping the generations who have witnessed it, the generations born into it, the generations to come, will remain true to the reality without technology.

I feel it is a mental communication when you are talking through the computer, rather than physically meeting up and talking. Communication through social media and phones have become so advanced that as the younger generations become more and more involved, it seems almost sad that they will never experience the beginning of technology, when face to face interaction was the best form of communicating. As social media has connected many people in so many ways both positively and negatively, I hope that people realize there is more to it.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
