Winter break is upon us. This means less Netflix and chill and more time spending countless hours actually watching Netflix and never changing out of your pajamas. Here's a breakdown of the most interesting and highest-rated TV shows on Netflix for your binge-watching pleasure.

1. House of Cards

Cast: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Mahershala Ali, Molly Parker, Derek Cecil

Rating: 5 stars

If you're in need of being transported to a world of undercover backstabbing and political drama, then this is the show for you.This series produced by Netflix follows the life of skeevy and very intelligent U.S. Representative named Francis Underwood. This plot will keep you on your toes as Frank rises through the ranks. This show will leave you wondering if this is really what the political world is like.

2. Parks and Recreation

If you're in the mood to laugh for hours watch the popular NBC show Parks and Rec. Amy Poehler's TV series follows a Parks and Recreation office in small town Indiana. The main character Leslie Knope is extremely passionate about her career and strives to complete small and seemingly unimportant city projects to make their town a better place.

3. Freaks and Geeks

Although this show only had one season, it's arguably one of the greatest shows to be produced in its time. Starring big names Jason Segel and James Franco, it follows the lives of a diverse group of high school students making their way through high school and the many trials they face.

Zooey Deschanel's show New Girl is about a quirky teacher named Jess that moves into a loft with 3 single men named Nick, Schmidt, and Winston. Nick is a cynical law-school dropout who likes his own space, Schmidt is an eccentric businessman who believes he is God's gift to women, and Winston is a former athlete who has an obsession with winning. These clashing personalities make for a well-rounded TV show that will keep you laughing.

5. Grey's Anatomy

Cast: Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr, Patrick Dempsey, Sara Ramirez, Sandra Oh, Kevin McKidd, Eric Dane

This popular medical drama will send you on an emotional roller coaster and keep you watching with eye candy like McDreamy and McSteamy. This show follows a group of doctors at a hospital in Seattle as they grow in the ranks at Seattle Grace Hospital, and fall in and out of love. Meredith Grey is the main character and the daughter of a famous surgeon that we watch try to exceed the expectations that her mother set before her.
