Spring break is out of sight, and now, so are my toes. The post spring break binge is inevitable, and while it might be time to put a halt on the phase, it sure was a fun ride.
Eating my way through Bloomington has given me more than just a full stomach -it's given me quite a good idea about the best fattening foods on campus. Here are the best things I’ve ever ate (well, at least in Bloomington).
B-town has plenty of great fried foods. Opie Taylor’s mozzarella sticks are to die for, with a perfect cheese to breading ratio and probably the biggest sticks I’ve ever seen. It might be worth putting out a disclaimer that you might fall into a food coma after eating two or three.
Okay, continuing with the fried foods. Nick’s chicken fingers are probably the next best thing in this college town. If you like ‘em crispy, then Nick’s will have you satisfied.
Moving on down to Third Street, the best Chicago style pizza sits right in the home of Mother Bear’s pizza. Whether you like it plain, chicken parm style, or my favorite, vodka sauce instead of tomato sauce, you can bet it’s well worth your buck.
My favorite meal of the day is breakfast and Scholar's Inn never seems to get it wrong. Although they are only open for brunch on Sundays, it sure makes this day a great end to the weekend. All of their egg benedicts are amazing and you can’t go wrong with the Nova lox bagel. The truffle potatoes are also great.
Heading over to the Village Deli for some pancakes is definitely the move. Don’t forget to add chocolate chips for the perfect sweet and savory breakfast.
If you’re looking for a quick but unbelievable bacon, egg and cheese, you can’t go wrong with Butch’s.
If you like hot and spicy food, you have got to get to Little Zagreb’s and try their famous meatballs. I recently tried these for the first time and I couldn’t believe what I was missing. Don’t forget to order the cheesecake for dessert!
If your sweet tooth is calling, call Underground Cupcakes for everything you’ve ever dreamed of. This underrated spot has the best gourmet cupcakes in wild flavors.
I hope you enjoyed my suggestions; you must try them out! I think I better eat a salad for my next meal.
