One of the most prominent things of the Disney College Program that you will take with you are the friends you make from all over. Being thrown into an unknown atmosphere of living on your own in a state you probably didn't grow up in, you are bound to make connections with certain special individuals that will make the magic of Disney that much more breathtaking...And that much harder to leave.
1. The Roommate Best Friend
This is the best friend you will live with from the beginning of the program on. Being so close to each other, you will form a friendship that will feel like it has been ongoing for years. You will have a space in their bed to gossip or vent. This person will wake up just to eat pizza rolls with you after you arrived home at 4 a.m. from a 15 hour shift to discuss relationships, ridiculous guests, and plans for the future. You will probably see this person's birthday suit when getting ready in the bathroom together, and will know everything (and anything) about them. Heck, you'll even be OK sharing your food and beverages with them!
2. The Work Best Friend
This best friend you will meet on the job, making going to work never the same again. If they aren't working with you, it is a disappointing shift and not as magical. This is the friend you will be able to vent anything to, job related or just life in general. They will love to come to the parks with you early just to hang out and will make your experience on location just that much more memorable.
3. The Distant Best Friend
This is the best friend that will be an ICP (and/or a DCP, depending where you are from!). They will share their way of life with you. You'll be able to sit for hours mocking each other on different cultural differences, but it will connect on so many things. When the days count down closer that you know your distance will be miles and miles away, it breaks your heart. However, you will always have somewhere to go and a person to visit in that 'foreign land' that isn't your home country. Even oceans apart, you know that they will stay your friend for years to come.
4. The
Florida Best Friend
This is the best friend that will live in Florida and will probably be a Full Time or Part Time cast member. They have been working there for years, and will be able to show you everything you need to know about living in Florida. They will make your time on your program so much better, but so much harder to leave, knowing that you will eventually be the one leaving them. Sometimes it is hard to find this person because they know a 'goodbye' will be coming soon. Nonetheless, when you find this best friend, you will make a friendship that will last across the states. And you always know that when you visit WDW, you are making a visit to them too!
5. Your DCP Class Best Friend
This person you will meet on that first day of class, probably just
as nervous as you are for the unknown of what these workshops
actually are. You will make a special connection together with your
future goals and passions. You probably would have never crossed
paths outside of this class, but you are so fortunate you did. This
best friend will be the first smiling face you see in the classroom.
You will sit next to each other and love every second of it.
6. Your Character Best Friend
This best friend will not necessarily be someone you can text, or even call for that matter. Sometimes, they even change appearances or attitudes, depending on where they come from that day. However this best friend will be the character you visit on your homesick days, and your best days. This best friend will be a mandatory stop whenever you are playing in the parks. Sometimes you just need to turn your day around and pay them a visit, get a fabulous picture, and post to the world how lucky you are to spend time with them so frequently. Sure, they are in popular demand, but they are your special friend!
