Freshman year of college for me is almost to the end. It is crazy to believe how fast it has gone by for me. I still think back to July when I could hardly contain myself about going to college and now it's March. It has been such a transition for me and I cannot believe how I've changed and grown as a person. Same goes for all of my friends.
But enough of the gushy looking back stuff. College has been the craziest thing I've experienced. But it has also been life crushing hard. I used to think I was the only one who was going through this, but I was wrong.
I asked 18 of my friends about why they think college is great, but also why it is kinda the worst. This is what I got in response.
1. "College is great because you can do whatever the heck you want and no one cares, but it is also kinda the worst because you're paying a butt load of money and better hope you don't screw up."
2. "College is great because FREEDOM, but it is also kinda the worst because you have a roommate."
3. "College is great because you get to meet so many people but it is also kinda the worst because so many people suck."
4. "College is great because of the freedom you have, but it is also kinda the worst cause it's hard to say no to the brews."
5. "College is great because you learn to grow up and mature, but it is also kinda the worst because you're away from home."
6. "College is great because wearing mermaid-punk new balances are TOTALLY acceptable, but it is also kinda the worst because some of my friends' friends are approximately two hours away from me."
7. "College is great because you can do whatever the hell you want, but it is also kinda the worst because I ate an entire box of thin mints for breakfast this morning."
8. "College is great because no one tells you what to do, but it is also kinda the worst because there's no one to tell you what to do."
9. "College is great because it opens a lot of opportunities up, but it is also kinda the worst because I thought I would learn more in my classes than I did in high school."
10. "College is great because I now know people who accept my need to sleep 18 out of 24 hours a day, but it is also kinda the worst because I have no sense of time or place anymore."

"College is great because you can run around and mess with people without having to worry about seeing them again, but it is also kinda the worst because maybe the next day you walk into your lecture and the only open seat is next to that random kid on the street you yelled at because they said they wouldn't play Minecraft with you."

13. "College is great because responsibility and freedom lead you to find who you truly are, but it is also kinda the worst because the stress from rigorous academics takes a large toll on overall mental and physical health."
14. "College is great because I've met some amazing people and already had amazing experiences, but it is also kinda the worst because I never sleep."
