Everyone has a unique perspective on life. We all have views and opinions, thoughts and feelings. How often though do we really think about or discuss them though? We may strike the surface occasionally, but why not take it a step further? Writing allows us to look into ourselves and discover aspects and feelings we didn’t even know previously existed.

Writing is great for so many different things. Yes, it can be a drag when we have to write a research paper, lab report, or some other dull assignment. There is always that sense of accomplishment when you finish, though. That is one of my favorite feelings. Typing out that last concluding sentence and enthusiastically hitting period and saving, then grabbing the warm paper out of the printer and literally feeling the weight of your words in your hands is an unmatched experience. That feeling can be attained in more than just an academic setting.

Write for fun! I don’t write these articles for a grade or for a class. I do it because I like expressing myself in written word and I get to share my thoughts and opinions to a lot of different people. If you have some free time in your day, just start writing. Anything and everything can be written about. There is no “wrong” topic. Just grab your laptop or a pen and paper and let your mind wander. It is both fun and relaxing, and much more beneficial than other activities.

Do you have a story or idea that you want to write? Then just go for it. You’re not going to have it magically appear one day so start now. You don’t have to be a professional to write a story or a short piece. Anyone can do it. It can seem daunting, but if it is something you have considered then you absolutely need to go for it. Don’t worry about whether it’s “good” or “bad”. Do it because it is fun and makes you happy. In the end, that is all that ever matters.

Start a journal and write about your day or how you feel. It can be extremely relieving and satisfying. Sometimes you don’t even know how you feel, but you start writing and suddenly you’re aware of everything going on in your head, and can get more control over your emotions. If you have a great day or something wonderful happens, write about it. You’ll be able to look back and remember exactly how you felt a week, a month, a year from now and relive that day through your own mind. There is simply never a bad time to write. Any day for any reason is a good time to write.

Another benefit of consistent writing is it is useful in every aspect of life. Your writing skills will improve and that will transfer into the classroom, work, communicating with friends and family, the list goes on. Writing is vital to so many different areas of our lives. It is a skill that can be worked on all the time. Find some time every day to write and it will pay off for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
