We all know what the comfort zone is. It a homey and accepting place. It’s where everyone tends to be because no one likes to be uncomfortable. That’s a fact. That’s the way of life.
No one ever wants to be the new kid at school.
No one ever wants to be in a position where they don’t feel familiar with.
No one ever wants to lose their home.
That’s why we always trap ourselves in this small and confined box.
But let me tell you why taking that first step out of your box is a great thing.
1. It’s a liberating feeling.
Being outside of your box is similar to dorming in college. You’ll feel a wave of independence and it will be quite freeing. It’ll make you feel as though you just did something incredible. Even though others might not see it as a big thing, that small step is an accomplishment to you and that is what matters. You just conquered something you thought you couldn’t do and you succeeded. Congratulations. Even if you didn’t, you still attempted to and that is #goals worthy. It’s not about the destination, but about the journey. As cliche as that sounds, it’s true.
2. You meet incredible people.
There are 7 billion other people out there. You are bound to meet great people and connect with them. It’ll also provide some reassurance because you’re not going to be the only awkward person out there that is trying something new. There is most definitely going to be others who want to test the waters and see how far they can go, just like you. Of course, your friends in the box will still be there, but these people will challenge you to excel.
3. It pushes you to do more.
You’ll realize that it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be. In your thought process, you think that it’ll be the worst life experience ever, but in reality, it wasn’t. In fact, it’ll feel pretty nice and encourage you to do more for yourself. Stepping out of your comfort zone will show you that there’s more to life than what meets the eye and being in a box all day sounds terrible now that you have stepped out of it. Now you may never even want to go back.
4. You’ll also encourage others.
How cool would that be? To be a leader? To be a role model? To show people that there’s more to life than just being comfortable and sticking with the same routine. The coolest adventures always include some risks and to show that you aren’t afraid will encourage others to do the same.
So next time when you’re at the dividing line between comfort and the unknown.
Remember that all it takes is just one small step (and maybe a push from a friend if needed).
One step and you’ll be able to see a new perspective.
One step and you’ll see how taking this one step isn’t that bad at all. In fact, it encourages you to take more steps. So many more steps that when you look back, your box is just a tiny speck in the horizon.
