The beauty of natural hair
Have you ever wondered why African American women praise their natural hair? It is not secret nor is it a mystery. In today’s world, more and more women are going on the journey of “going natural”. Celebrities such as Solange, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Tamera Mowry-Housely are a few goddesses who shed light on natural hair. Although it is a constant everyday struggle, natural hair is beautiful in all shapes and forms and here is why.
1. Natural hair is a black woman’s crown
Black girls take a lot of pride in their natural hair. It is one of many unique features that make them flawless. There is so much to be proud of when it comes to a black woman’s hair. For example, the length, the texture, the volume, and of course the natural curls.
2. There are many hairstyles to do with natural hair
One cannot run out of ideas when it comes to styling natural hair. There are so many up-dos, twist outs, braids and many more that black women can do with their hair. Natural hair is very flexible and doable.
3. Thick and curly are gems for natural hair
When I was growing up, I hated the thickness of my hair and how it was brutally painful to comb. Now I realize that the thickness and curliness of my hair are what make my hair precious. Plus, it adds endless volume when it is straightened.
4. Natural hair often makes a bold statement
Our crowns help to define our royalty. If you go out in public and see a black woman rocking a twist out or fancy updo, nine times out of ten her hair is screaming confidence. Natural hair is just another feature that makes black women beautiful.
Evidently all hair is beautiful, because all hair is different. But when it comes to a black woman, there is something different. Yes our melanin is always popping, our skins are flawless; when we are 79, we will look 36, but our hair makes us unique and that evidently makes us majestic.
