Do you ever see yourself torn between two options? Have you ever found yourself in the grocery store debating which face wash to buy or if those organic eggs are really worth it? If you said yes then you might be an indecisive decision maker.
Being an indecisive decision maker can seriously be an annoying trait to have. On one hand, you're extremely careful about the choices you make and on the other, you take 8 billion years to make up your mind. It's an understatement to say that the struggle is real, but in the end you find yourself making the decision on your own terms (most of the time).
I am the queen of being indecisive. I have found myself debating brands of soap, quality of food and even where in the world I would like to study abroad. Heck, I have even found myself debating my friendships at times, but it all comes with the territory of not being able to make fast decisions. Now let me tell you, it can be downright painful not knowing what you want. Standing there looking at the 50 different brands of face wash can almost pose an anxiety attack just because you have no possible way of knowing which brand is better than the next. I mean what is the real difference between the products you're buying? How the heck do we indecisive people make those decisions? Here's a fun fact, sometimes we don't! In all honesty, decision making can be a bit overwhelming and if you're as indecisive as I am you know that sometimes it's easier for you when other people to make those decisions for you. I'm completely guilty when it comes to asking for advice or even down right letting people decide for me.
What about the big decisions in your life? The ones where you don't necessarily have all the facts to but you need to make a decision soon? Those are the ones you wish someone would just tell you what to do but you can't exactly do that. At the ripe old age of 19 I have come to realize that decision making doesn't lay as heavily in my parents hands as I once I relied on. We can look for as many references and opinions as we want but at the end of the day someone is going to remind us that we have to make this decision on our own. Whether it's deciding where to live for next semester or what to eat for lunch; an indecisive decision maker is always going to struggle with giving a definitive answer to any question you pose at them.
We're a selective few, and we promise to work on saying 'yes' and 'no' more often. If you are indecisive and are presented with an option you simply can't make your mind up on just remember a few things. Take a deep breath and look at all your options, make sure you're making this decision for yourself and no one else and lastly, remember to trust yourself. There is a reason why you are leaning towards this answer and in the end you'll be happier knowing you made this decision on your own and ultimately for yourself.
