Ah yes, it's that time of year again.
Pumpkins, leaves falling on the ground, and terrible horror movies such as "Zombeaver" (yes, this movie actually exists, and it's great. Go look it up on Netflix) all leading up too... Halloween.
Halloween is one of my personal (and a lot of people's) favorite holidays. There's so much effort put into finding or making the perfect Halloween costume that it makes people speechless. Anyway, here's the typical thought process when it comes to finding/making that perfect Halloween costume.
Step one:
"What would be a cool costume that I could make/buy and that I could wear for Halloween this year?" you wonder, thinking of your favorite TV shows and outfits you think you could pull off wearing to a Halloween party. You want to find one that wouldn't look too inappropriate to wear, and also something that wouldn't be too complicated to make. Eventually, after about 3000 searches for costumes on Google, and about five to ten scratch designs, you come up with an idea
Step Two:
You decide that you want to be an (insert thing here) and you either go to a store like Spirit Halloween to get your costume, or order it online (and pay shipping unless you have Amazon Prime. Yay Amazon). If you're making a Halloween costume, you decide to go to the nearest crafts store (which is Jo Ann's here, BTW, don't go to Michael's unless you really have to) and buy a bunch of fabric for your costume, as well as for your costume for Megacon.
Step Three:
If you ultimately decide to sew your costume, you get right to work on making the perfect costume. Everything looks like it's coming together perfectly until you mess up on sewing the middle part of your costume. Then you realize that you have to go back and correct a bunch of mistakes that you made in the process and eventually start to cry because YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GET THIS DONE.
Step Four:
If you decided that making costumes isn't your thing, the post office finally emails you, indicating that your package has arrived. Then you get giddy because you realize that your perfect costume is here! So you go and get it and try it on and you fall in love with it... until the tulle starts rubbing you in the wrong places, and you regret your decision to buy the costume because the tulle is terrible.
Step Five:
You finish your costume, and you try it on to make sure it perfectly fits you... and it does! All of the hard work and energy was put into such an amazing costume, and you can't wait to wear it on Halloween!
Step Six:
After realizing that tulle isn't the worst thing in the world, you decide to wear your costume anyway, because you paid about $40 for it, and that isn't going to waste.
Step Seven:
It's Halloween! The day you've been (not so) patiently waiting for! There's so many parties going on tonight, plus trick or treating. Everyone you know is complimenting your costume, whether you made your costume or you bought it. It. Looks. Amazing. You know that this is the best Halloween that you've ever had.
I'm sure everyone has experienced at least a few of these. Whether you decide to go to the Nerd Culture Halloween party or the Sig Nu Halloween party, your costume is the one that's going to grab the most attention. Halloween is full of mystery and excitement, and one of the best parts is definitely the costume.
So whether or not you are the social type at parties, if anything, your costume speaks for itself.
