The 90s Kids Are "All That"

We had the best childhood out of anyone.

The 90s Kids Are "All That"

As 90s kids, we have seen all of our society's ups and downs. When we were born, technology was just starting to play a role in our lives. We never thought we'd see the day of touch screen cell phones, 3D TVs and hover boards. We also had an extraordinary imagination, something very rare in today's day and age. Without all the technology, we were able to communicate with other children, play with dolls —in person, not online— and explore the world with our human eye, not a computer screen. Here are 10 reasons 90s kids had the best childhood/

1. We had the best television series.

With shows such as the "Amanda Show," "Rugrats," "Blue's Clues," "Arthur" and many more, 90s kids had a range of TV shows to choose from. While we didn't have live streaming, there was always something interesting on live television or VHS. Nothing beats the old Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.

2. The Catchy Music

From Britney Spears to N'Sync, the 90s kids definitely had the catchiest music. "I Want Candy," "Wannabe," you name it, we had it all. Better yet, we wouldn't listen to the tunes on a computer or iPod, we had HitClips. If you don't miss carrying your HitClips around everywhere you went, you definitely weren't a true 90s kid. These tiny boom boxes influenced the way we would one day listen to music.

3. Bill Nye was our science teacher.

Although he was a little creepy, Bill Nye taught us a lot —most importantly memorizing his theme song— and he used humor to capture our childish attention spans. We looked forward to the moment when we'd hear, "Bill Nye, the science guy..."

4. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Whether we were attending their birthday party or just going to the mall, the Olsen twins were our best friends growing up. They invited us everywhere.

5. Barbies

Barbies allowed us to escape reality and create the world where we felt safe and accepted. Spending 2-4 hours a day playing with Barbies expanded our imagination and perception of how life should be. We took them on adventures; whether you had the dream house or cruise ship, Barbie was everywhere, maybe even to your bath tub.

6. Kid Pix

Major TBT. Every elementary school had Kid Pix on their computers, and when the teacher wasn't looking, you know what all the students would be doing, doodling away on their computers.

7. The Wacky Accessories

Slap bracelets, butterfly clips, chokers and many more. Us 90s kids started the choker fad, and hopefully, majority of us left it behind.

8. Beanie Babies

Way before Webkinz, there were Beanie Babies. Everyone had, at least, one, but most kids were collectors.

9. The Junk Food

Gushers, Wonder Balls, Fruit-by-the-Foot, Dip-N-Dots, Baby Bottle Pops, the list goes on and on. Although terrible for you, they made our taste buds go out of control, and we didn't care what was healthy when we were children!

10. Easy Bake Ovens

When we wanted to help our parents cook and they responded with no, we'd all run to our easy bake oven to feel as if we were contributing to the meal. It was simple to do and it tasted even better.

With all the rage of the 90s, television stations like Nickelodeon and Disney Channel are now re-airing some of their old shows. Nickelodeon is working on creating new episodes from the old hit-series, "As Told By Ginger," and Disney airs re-runs late at night. It seems to me like people are hearing our call to bring the old days back! We really are "All That."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
