Every RA, whether you currently are one or have previously held this position, has experienced a variety of different kids while keeping order in your assigned dorm hall. No matter where you are located on campus, you have witnessed these six types of residents as an RA:
1. The one person, turn up crew resident
This resident is a one person, walking turn up crew. No stranger to being the subject of noise complaints.
2. The Passive-Aggressive Resident
This resident probably applied to be an RA and didn’t get it, or are simply passive-aggressive by nature. Usually sassy, this type thinks they know EVERY single thing about everything and anything and will occasionally try to tell you how to do YOUR job.
3. The Friendly Resident
This resident is super nice and the social butterfly of the floor who shows up at every event, helps to clean up and solicits advice on applying to be an RA.
4. The Prankster Resident
This resident loves playing pranks on you and sometimes the other residents, so watch out! But all in good fun, of course. This person is actually pretty cool.
5. The BFF Residents
Usually roommates, suite-mates or BOTH, tese Residents can be the best thing ever or your worst nightmare. No in-between. They usually travel in a pack.
6. The Mutual Friend Resident
This resident just so happens to be friends with ALL of your friends.
Any time that you even think you’re going to go out to have a good time,
you’re wrong. You’ll run into this resident and have to sulk all the way
back home. Occasionally you might be leaving out for the same event, at
the same time as this resident, so you have to be on your best behavior.
