The 6 Best Websites To Entertain You While In Class

Now, I don’t condone tuning out your professor and playing on your computer for the entire lecture, but sometimes we need that minute to goof off and look at something else in order to refresh our attention. Here are six of the best websites to entertain you between class notes.

1. F My Life (FML, http://www.fmylife.com/) – Nothing like laughing at the expense of others to make your day better. There are a variety of categories ranging from money to kids if you enjoy certain types of stories, and you can vote on whether the OP (original poster) deserved it or if you agree that their life sucks.

2. My Life is Average (MLIA, http://mylifeisaverage.com/) – “Life is pretty normal today” – but it can still be pretty epic, as the posters from this site will constantly tell you. Reading about the cool, humorous things that happen to people in their everyday lives will give you hope that your life can be just as awesome as theirs.

3. Dear Blank, Please Blank (DBPB, http://dearblankpleaseblank.com/) – Probably offering the quickest reads (unless you end up reading 20-plus pages), check out the funniest, and sometimes most inspiring, letters that people write to their family and friends or favorite fictional characters, sometimes with said characters writing letters to each other that spoof their series. Dear web surfer, please read!

4. That’s So True (TST, http://www.thatssotrue.com/) - GIFs, GIFs everywhere. This site describes everything in the world perfectly, and uses the best pictures and GIFs to do so. It tells different stories about things that happen at school, with your family, and anywhere else you could possibly be, always leaving you laughing and exclaiming, “That’s so true!”

5. The Cringe Channel (CC, http://www.cringechannel.com/) – It’s exactly as it sounds. Everything on this site will make you recoil in horror and wonder what the actual hell is wrong with some people. But that’s the fun of it – in addition to shock value, The Cringe Channel provides some serious laughs, often at the expense of others.

6. People of Walmart (www.peopleofwalmart.com) – There are plenty of jokes out there about the type of people who inhabit Walmart, and they either inspired this website or vice versa. Here you will find horrifying photos of fashion don’ts and rather questionable activities that risk making the local news. It’s disturbing, but at least it’s funny.

Odyssey (www.theodysseyonline.com)

Shameless self-promotion aside, Odyssey has many great articles that cover a wide range of topics. You can search almost anything you want and you’ll find a handful of articles written about the subject. Once you click on one article, you’ll find yourself reading another, and then that one will lead you to another. Between the national feed and the school chapter pages, you’ll find more than hundreds of articles worth reading. Be sure to support our university chapter, Odyssey at Monmouth.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
