welcome back to reality kids.

The 5 Stages of Going Back to School
Florida State College of Law

Last semester you were thrilled to go on winter break and see your old friends again, but as the days went on, you became bored and tired. You felt like you needed to have a purpose again. Finally, it's the beginning of second semester and these are the stages of going back to school.

Stage 1: Excitement.

You start thinking of all the things that make your college experience so great. You get excited to see your friends again and the group chat is blowing up with possible plans for the new semester. You are scared/excited for those new classes because that means new beginnings. And lastly, you're excited to have your freedom back. As much as we love our parents, we want to be allowed to come home at 3am and eat cheesy bread as we please.

Stage 2: Procrastination.

Same old, same old. You get to your college town a weekend before classes. You forget you need to feed yourself and buy your textbooks, so you scramble to find your textbooks through websites, as well as fight to the death to get the last package of bottled water. In addition, instead of buying/selling your textbooks before classes start, you procrastinate that until the first week of classes. Good luck if you have to read before the first class.

Stage 3: The calm before the storm.

You get all of your groceries. You don't have any assignments. You are starting to sell and buy textbooks. You haven't burned the house down yet from your first college-cooked meal. You think you're actually going to be okay this semester.

Stage 4: Going to class and returning back to reality.

Your first day has turned into a disaster. You couldn't find the rooms so you looked like a freshman. The material looks like a foreign language to you. Your professors weren't as easy as they claimed to be on ratemyprofessor and your brain cannot take in all of the assignments on the syllabus. You realize that it is going to be a long, difficult semester.

Stage 5: Remembering it's Syllabus Week.

Kick your shoes off and forget that these classes will become much harder than they are at first because it's time to get syll-ly. This is a college student's attempt to get out all of their stress that is about to become their worst nightmare, following with their library dates until 2am and the 5 cups of coffee, staying up studying for these classes. Oh, and you get to recognize that cute boy in your last semester class while you're out and talk about what a drag this semester will be.

Here's to you college kids. May your procrastination get better and your dining dollars for coffee diminish.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
