Anyone that’s a fan understands how emotional it is to listen to a new album from your favorite artist. One Direction just released their latest album, “Made In The A.M.,” and it’s hands down the best album they ever made. It’s so good I died (in a good way) a little bit during every song.
The band made up of Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan has been inching towards this new sound for the past couple of albums, including tracks like “Through the Dark” and “Happily” from their third album, “Midnight Memories,” and “Girl Almighty,” “Clouds,” “Fireproof,” and “No Control” from their fourth album properly titled “FOUR.” Love them or hate them, the boys of One Direction have proved they’re successful. Their new sound shows maturity. If One Direction isn’t your guilty pleasure yet, they will be after hearing this album.
Here's the 17 times this album killed me and will kill you, too.
1. Liam’s vocals during the bridge of “Hey Angel”
Liam sings, “I come alive when I hear your voice. It’s a beautiful sound, it’s a beautiful noise.” Basically he’s singing about the way I feel listening to him.
2. Harry’s high notes in “Drag Me Down.”
And everyone thought those high notes from “Gotta Be You” were never coming back.
3. That banging chorus in “Perfect.”
The song is, for lack of a better word, perfect.
4. When the boys sing the “Infinity” and it feels like they’re going to sing it for infinity.
“How many nights have you wished someone would stay? Lie awake only hoping they’re okay. I never counted all of mine. If I did I know it would feel like infinityyyyyy.”
5. The tempo change from verse to chorus to verse in “End of the Day.”
It’s such a fun song. Blast your speaker and scream this anthem-like track!
6. "If I Could Fly"
Grab a box of tissues because this entire song will hurt you.
7. The John Mayer vibe of “Long Way Down.”
This song highlights how much the band has matured. The sound, musically and vocally, is strong and clean. It’s got the kind of vibe a hit by John Mayer would have.
8. The weird noises the boys make at the beginning of “Never Enough.”
I don’t know how to describe them. Just listen to the song, you won’t regret it. The chorus is super catchy and has HIGH notes at the end of it.
9. Hearing how much One Direction loves “Olivia.”
Might want to change your name after hearing this.
10. When they sang about being kings in “What a Feeling.”
Side note: If you like “Fireproof,” you’ll love this song. It’s got the same relaxing, breezy vibe with uplifting lyrics .
11. Louis’ high note in “Love You Goodbye”
Louis wrote the song and belts his heart out in the bridge.
BONUS: Niall singing, “My heart’s already breaking baby go on twist the knife.” Ouch.
12. The cuteness of “I Want to Write You a Song.”
Some of the sweetest lyrics are “I want to lend you my coat, one that’s as soft as your cheek” and “I want to write you a song, one to make your heart remember me.”
BONUS: Louis’ voice is incredibly raspy during the chorus and it’s so beautifully heart-melting.
13. Realizing “History” could be their swan song.
One Direction is taking a hiatus next year, so rumors are circling that this could be the band’s last album, making “History” the perfect end of the road song.
14. The second verse of “Temporary Fix.”
If you ever thought Harry was Mick Jagger’s long lost son, this song proves it. His vocals are that of a rockstar in the second verse of this song about friends with benefits. (Scroll down to #15 to hear a snippet of "Temporary Fix")
15. The guitar riff between the pre-chorus and the chorus of “Walking in the Wind.”
It does its job to connect these parts of the song and gets the listener moving a little for a more laid-back song.
16. The second verse of “Wolves.”
Liam, Louis, and Niall all get a turn to sing during this verse. They sing about causing trouble and how beauty could start a war. There’s a lot going on and it’s kind of a lot to handle.
17. When they FINALLY cuss during a song, a.k.a. “A.M.”
The band sings, “We’re just swimming ‘round in our glasses and talking out of our asses.” It’s a song about staying awake in the middle of the night and having stupid yet nice conversations with someone close to you.(Scroll back up to #16 to hear a snippet of "A.M.")
