Midterms are arguably the worst time in the a college student's life. Unlike finals where there is the hope of the end of the semester, the end of midterms is met with tears and more classes. What better way to tell the story of triumph and tribulation than with our favorite drama queen from this season of the Bachelor, Olivia Caridi.
1. Stage One: Blissfully Unaware
You walk into the library just to hang out with your friends. Who cares that you have five exams in one day? You just got fresh french fries from the Chic-fil-A express. No one can tear you down. You are invincible (insert motivational soundtrack).
2. Stage Two: Soft Smiling Through the Pain
You are slowly realizing that the five exams you have this week are a real thing and not your imagination. Now you could cry and use your tears to make the most caffeinated tea known to man (it's black tea) or you could put on your best pair of yoga pants and baggy t-shirt and soft smile your way to the library.
3. Stage Three: This is Getting Real
When did all these people start attending CNU? Why are there so little places to study? Why do you have 15 dining dollars on your account? It is barely the middle of the semester and you started with $200! Where are all the outlets?!
4. Stage Four: On the Grind
There is no use crying over spilled milk, or the realization of the mountain of study guides you are going to have to make. You finally find a sub-par cubby in the corner of the library with an outlet so you can finally study all the physics notes you have ever taken.
5. Stage Five: Study Break
Congratulations you studied for 15 minutes without crying! You have earned an hour trip around the library to socialize with everyone you have made eye contact with for more than 10 seconds.
6. Stage Six: Dance Party
You know what you haven't done in a while? Danced to every Justin Bieber song ever created. The Sorry Spanish Remix adds a little festive flair that you are obviously in need of, because why else would you take a dance party break?
7. Stage Seven: Attempting to Get Back on Track
OK, you have to buckle down now. It is one in the morning and you have to be honest with yourself, how much physics have you actually retained in the five hours you have spent in the library? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
8. Stage Eight: Babbling
If anyone comes up to ask you how it's going and you reply with "Well I am blrirfnemaskljg menewskdirheitou," you have reached the babbling stage of your studying. You probably do not remember what real words sound like coming out of your mouth because you have been listening to classical music on repeat for three hours.
9. Stage Nine: Rethinking Your Major
Ya know, who needs to get into a Master's program? Who needs to fulfill their lifelong dream of becoming a teacher and changing the world? Not you. Actually, there are plots of land in Southern California that you use for your an avocado farm. If it is good enough for Jason Mraz it is good enough for you.
10. Stage Ten: Visiting your Professor's Office Hours
As you take the walk of shame from the library to your professor's office hours, you try to formulate what you can say to make it seem like you have been studying for this exam for at least a week. You hope that the redness of your eyes from crying will show equal parts dedication and desperation for your professor has mercy on your soul and throws a couple extra credit points your way.
11. Stage Eleven: Taking the Exam
You ran home to grab exactly 32 cents so you could afford a Scantron and make it back with just enough time to catch your breath from the three flights of stairs you just climbed. You take five seconds to regain your composure and use the next 25 to recite the pep talk you spent an hour working on during one of your study breaks.
12. Stage 12: Leaving the Exam

You made it! You may have almost died, contemplated dropping out of college, and considered running away too many times than you care to admit, but you finally made it! You have the tear stains battle scars to prove it, but honestly, you just want to spend your remaining dinning dollars on a bagel sandwich and pass out.
13. Stage 13: The Most Glorious Nap of Your Life
You deserve it. You have been awake for approximately 30 hours and 56 minutes (but who is counting), so sleep for as long as humanly possible. But just make sure you wake up in time to cram for your next midterm.
