During your lifetime, you are going to have many different types of friends. Each one leaving a lasting impression on you, and possibly changing you in some way. These people are put into our lives for a reason and depending on their personality, determines what effect they have on us. Here are several different types of friends, that if you are lucky enough, you will have in your lifetime.
1. The mom.
Your mom away from home. The friend who will keep you in line and also make you feel loved beyond words. This is the person you call at two in the morning because you are freaking out about your chemistry test that you have in less than 24 hours. She will show up with comfort food and calm you down and tell you to just go to bed because let's face it- there is nothing else you can do. She is the first one you want to call when something exciting happens or when you need life advice. Being the mom of the group means that her advice is always golden and if you don't take it, go ahead and throw in the towel.
2. The wild child.
Everyone has this friend. The person that stays out until the late hours of the night, every night. They are also in the know about everything because they see it first hand. This friend is the one that you want to take with you on a weekend getaway. Being the wild child also means they are the life of the party.
3. The athlete.
Need a workout buddy? This is your go-to friend. They are always at the gym and your inspiration to not eat another container of Ben & Jerry’s. It is okay to aspire to be like them, but newsflash: they have been like this since birth, and you have probably lost your chance to be anywhere as talented as them. But this friend is perfect for motivating you in the gym and if you ever need a stand in for your sorority’s 5K, they are your go to.
4. The loyal best friend.
This is the friend who will have your back no matter what. Jenny from the block talking smack? It’s okay; this friend will save you. No matter how many times the two of you fight over petty drama, you always iron things out. The two of you are like magnets; always together and can only be separated by unnatural causes. Never take advantage of this friend because 60 years from now the two of you will probably be roommates at the nursing home together.
5. The shoulder.
So you had a bad day? It is okay call this sweet pal up, and within 15 minutes they will be there with your favorite comfort food and ready to listen to all your problems. Not only is this person a good person but they are also the most selfless person you have in your life. They are one of the best type of friends to have because they love you despite all your flaws and all the times you have messed up. If you have someone in your life like this, never take them for granted because you have a keeper.
6. The cheerleader.
Running your first 5K? Have a big test coming up? This is the person you need: your motivator. They will be there for you every step of the way helping you become the person you want to be. This is someone you want to have in your corner all the time because, with them, you are fearless.
7. The creative spirit.
Pinterest queen. Painting maven. Queen of doodling. This friend is basically Pablo Picasso reincarnated. Not only is this friend very creative, but they are also a free spirit and very mellow. They are the friend that will whip out a notebook at your weekly lunch and start drawing or writing something down. If you ever need colored pencils, crayons, or just someone to talk to; this is your go-to friend. Since this friend has such a mellow nature they are also the least self-centered person you know and a very good listener.
8. The adventurer.
This friend always keeps you on your toes with their spontaneous nature and need for adventure. There is a very large chance that this person is in all of your vacation photos because they probably planned the trip. If you ever need someone to drive across the state line with you on a Tuesday because that is where the nearest Krispy Kreme is, they will drive you without a second thought.
9. Brutally honest pal.
“You might want to change into another shirt.” Everyone needs this friend. Who else is going to tell you that that new special someone from Econ is actually a jerk and not the guy for you? Being brutally honest might give your pal a bad name, but they say everything out of love. The main reason everyone should have this friend is because they have your best interest at heart. They are the person that prevents you from looking back ten years from now and thinking, Why didn’t someone say something? This friend is your golden ticket to not being tagged in embarrassing Facebook posts.
10. Polar opposite.
The complete opposite of you in every way possible. Somehow, though, you make it work. You two are like Yin and Yang, a perfect balance. This is the person that you call to ask if you are overthinking everything because from their perspective you probably are. They like Coke Icees and you like Cherry; great when they are separate but are perfect when you put them together.
11. Fashionista.
This is your shopping companion for life, they will make you look like you just walked out of an episode of "America’s Next Top Model." Being a fashionista also means they are a bargainista and will save you big bucks on that sweater you've been eyeballing. This friend is daring when it comes to their outfit choices. They are also more than willing to come to your dorm after classes and help you pick out your game day outfit that will boost your confidence through the roof.
