When we last saw the Sky People over what comes for us to be around a year ago, they were battling with Mount Weather and the Grounders. Now three months later we were thrown right back to where we started; the battle between an old world and a new one. The 100 did a flawless job of filling us in on the changes that have been made in three months since we last saw the Sky people at Camp Jaha. We were shown the first episode called ‘Wanheda: Part One’ with part two premiering next week. Here are a few of the major points and "what the heck?" moments of the season 3 premiere of The 100.
1) The Three Month Time Jump: I can't speak for everyone else but I truly loved the time jump. I believe it was really viable to furthering the story into a new direction. Now that the new beginning at Camp Jaha is now in full throttle and we are all along for the ride.
2) Murphy Locked In A Bunker: When we last saw Murphy, he went separate paths from Jaha, finding himself in a bunker created by those from the city of light. As he began to watch the tapes left behind, he learned the dark truth behind the city of light and the bomb that killed millions of people on Earth. Within the first 3 minutes of this episode we see Murphy locked in the bunker for assumedly three months left with only the tapes to watch back over and over again, growing angry at the truth behind Alie and Becca the one who created her. Murphy now has not even one ounce of trust for Alie after learning the history behind this place and believes Jaha's judgement has been clouded by her. The question is can we trust Jaha now? Or an even better question, can we trust Alie?
3) Relationship Trouble: Octavia and Lincoln have always been on the same page and very supportive of each other, but when we see them again this season they seem to be on different playing fields. Octavia is still living as a grounder, believing that's the way to live. While Lincoln, on the other hand, is trying to live peacefully with the people of the arc and the grounders. He believes they can all coexist. Leaving Octavia to think that Lincoln has forgotten he’s a grounder. But has he? Hopefully, this season we get to see their relationship strengthen even more and get past this rough patch.
4) Grieving Jasper After the lose of Maya at Mount Weather, we now see Jasper struggling to regain his footing. He seems to be drinking to oblivion and has no concern of drying, which causes a lot of issues for the group and those living within the walls of the camps. With tensions high, we see his friendship with Monty unravel along with his trust for everyone he used to call his friends. Will Jasper overcome this suffering and will we see him regain his relationship with his friends.
5) Raven's Health: With Raven’s injury last season, we were left off with seeing her getting back on her feet and doing her normal thing. This season, we are reminded that she is still in very difficult shape and that she is experiencing some setbacks from her incident. But has she reached her breaking point? We see her and Chancellor Abby go at it when she tells Raven to take it easy and that she can help her by bringing up the issues that follow her injury and the hard truth that she pushed Wick away because of it. But as we all know Raven is a strong and ruthless girl who won't let pain get in her way of her being herself again. Hopefully this season Abby will learn that as well.
6) New Relationships Forming: We are introduced to any new relationships this season that have formed over the past three months. We meet Bellamy’s new girlfriend. We find out that Miller has a boyfriend in possibly one of the best ways possible. I love how the writers nonchalantly confirmed the fact that Miller is in fact gay, and it’s okay. We also meet Niylah, a woman who works at a trading post who has been opening her home to Clarke and might just be her new love interest.
7) Bounty Hunter: As we all learned there are plenty of people out there searching for Clarke and want her dead but we are introduced to a new grounder named Roan. He’s out for Clarke’s head and captures her at the end of the episode when she leaves the trading post. Is Roan someone we should worry about considering he has Clarke or is he not bad compared to the rest? I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of him this season and the truth behind why he captured Clarke.
8) New Expectations: Totally was not expecting to see singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes in the premiere but I am totally glad we did. Not only did we get to see him sing a song for some of the Sky People, but his character also helped further Jasper’s story line of going too far in blaming others for what happened at Mount Weather. Now after that episode, I feel as if everyone is concerned for Jasper.
9) Ice Nation: Since what I would say was the beginning of this series we have heard about the Ice Nation briefly. Well now they are full-fledged part of the story and I am excited to see what their history is behind the white war paint and where they are from. Alongside what they want from Clarke and why they have one of Camp Jaha’s trackers with them?
10) Familiar Faces: We are definitely seeing a lot of characters from previous episodes but one that probably has one of the most interesting stories is Emori. At the end of the premiere we see that Murphy wants nothing to do with Jaha and The City of Light so he decide to bare back across the lake to get back to the camp. That's when he is reunited with Emori. She has a boat and she's bringing Murphy back. What’s Emori’s connection to the City of Light? Can she be trusted? Also is she a possible love interest for Murphy or just a really strong friendship?
11) Who on Earth is that?!: While Jaha is escorting Murphy to Emori’s boat we briefly see this grounder who looks a little suspicious. We are told by multiple sources that his name in Gideon but we have yet to learn anything about him.It leaves me wondering who is he and why is he working with Alie? Hopefully, this season they choose to shed a little light of his characters history.
Overall I think we can all agree that the first part of this premiere was absolutely amazing and that this season will by all means meet our expectations...and maybe even exceed them. 'Wanheda: Part 2' premieres on January 28th at 9pm on the CW. I hope you all tune in.
