The 10 Struggles Of Registering For Classes

It is almost that time of the semester again. The most dreaded time for any college student. You may think you know someone now, but on registration day you will see their crazy side you didn't know existed. It is a time that can bring out the worst in people.

Registering for classes is not easy. It is hard, stressful and exhausting. There are so many factors that go into creating your schedule and registering for it. First you meet with your adviser, then the two of you create the perfect schedule. Next, you convince yourself that this is the semester when registration will be a breeze. You wake up on registration day feeling confident, and finally when registration opens, your computer crashes and everything you ever wanted is gone. While all of your friends got what they wanted your plan for a perfect schedule failed, and now you are crying like a baby in your advisors office.

The registration process is challenging and comes with a lot of struggles. Here are 10 struggles of registering for classes:

1. Having a clueless adviser who tells you to take classes you don’t even need.

An adviser is supposed to advise you, but instead they steer you in the wrong direction. They tell you that you need to take five electives to graduate, but you later realize you only really need three.

2. You can’t find your professor on ratemyprofessor.com.

You take a risk and take the class and your professor is a grumpy old man who hates technology.

3. Watching all of the classes you actually need disappear since you are the last one to register.

If you are a freshman or sophomore, you have to wait until the last day to register for classes. By the time it is your turn, every class you planned on taking is full.

4. The classes you need are only offered at 8 a.m.

Your plan is to take classes in the afternoon, so you can sleep in every day. When you start making your schedule you realize every class you need is only offered in the mornings...even worse, on Friday mornings.

5. Discovering you have a hold on your account the morning of registration.

After spending two hours on the phone with the registrar's office about removing your hold nothing was solved and your hold is still there.

6. Losing Wi-Fi connection during registration.

Probably the worst thing that could happen to you.

7. Getting kicked out of a class because no one told you there was prerequisite.

Since your advisor did not do their job and advise you, you don’t get into the class of your dreams because there is prerequisite in your way.

8. Taking the thirty-seventh spot on the waiting list.

Waiting lists are frustrating. Their purpose is to give you hope, but you are better off having a back up plan.

9. Not getting any of the classes you wanted.

After everything you’ve been through to register for classes, you end up with none of the classes you wanted.

10. Stuck in classes you don’t like or need.

Now you are in classes that have nothing to do with your major, which sets you back from graduating on time.

There really isn't a good way to prepare for registration, because when you think you have it all figured out, everything goes wrong. Registration sucks and there is not much left to say about it, except good luck!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
