You're finally done with the school year and are so excited to get started on your internship and summertime adventures! You will be skydiving, visiting museums, working on an exciting project and potentially getting published for the first time! This summer has so much fun packed into it, you can barely handle it. You are way too pumped.
But what you are most excited about is having the opportunity to spend hours catching up on and beginning new shows on Netflix. Though you don't say it aloud, you know just how good it will feel the first time you turn down plans with a friend from home with "I'm still feeling jet lag" (even though we all know better) so that you can watch another episode, or five, of "Breaking Bad."
To help you through the decision of finding the next new show or movie you want to watch, here might be some good places to start:
Pro tip: If you use a VPN, you can change your "location" to another country, allowing you access to an entirely different Netflix library.
Out of Country Netflix
1. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"
Where: Germany
Why: "It's amazing and Andy Samberg is a god" – My Little
"Andy Samberg, as hilarious as ever, with other unique characters that you will feel like you've known their personalities forever. Real crime, silly cops and a badass captain. You laugh, smile, and question whether or not police actually act like they do and hope that they don't." – Roomie
2. "Full House"
Where: Germany
Why: It is a classic! We Millennials grew up on this stuff. "Fuller House" didn’t quite manage to fill the nostalgic void it placed in our hearts upon announcement, and so we seek true fulfillment of our basic needs.
3. "10 Things I Hate About You"
Where: Germany
Why: A young Heath Ledger and a sassy Julia Stiles in an adapted Shakespearean screenplay? Count me in.
4. "Fired Up!"
Where: Germany
Why: I remember cracking up when I watched this in theaters as a 12-year-old ... I think I would have the same response today.
5. "The Incredibles"
Where: Germany
Why: If you didn't jump for joy the first time you saw an advertisement for "Incredibles 2," you did not have a childhood. This movie is everything a Pixar movie aspires to be.
6. "Saving Private Ryan"
Where: Germany
Why: OK, I have to admit, I haven't seen this movie. However, everyone tells me I have to and so I will! And so should you!
7. "A Beautiful Mind"
Where: Germany
Why: John Forbes Nash Jr. had quite the ride of a life. Before watching this one, read the book by Sylvia Nasar, who captured Nash's life beautifully in print. If you're too lazy to read, skip to the film. Either way, you'll be instantly fascinated.
8. "Girl, Interrupted"
Where: Germany
Why: With a rockstar cast and a creative story, "Girl, Interrupted" keeps your attention throughout. Lisa (aka Angelina Jolie) can manipulate me in the psych ward any day.
9. "Shutter Island"
Where: Germany
Why: Before "Inception," this was the Leo role that kept you on the edge of your seat. I could watch this more than once in the same day and still be mindblown.
10. "Argo"
Where: Hong Kong
Why: If you like politics and action, this movie is the one for you. This movie had me thinking of ways I could be sneaky enough to get my friends out of detention every now and then.
11. "The Social Network"
Where: Hong Kong
Why: Armie Hammer plays two people in this movie. TWO.
12. "Gatsby"
Where: Hong Kong
Why: So you can relive those parties as if they were your own. Plus the soundtrack is fire.
13. "Love & Other Drugs"
Where: Hong Kong
Why: Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal are reason enough, but for me, this movie was one of my first glimpses into the world of early-onset Parkinson's disease, and it helped ignite my interest in neurodegenerative diseases. If nothing else, it is a tragic and beautiful story.
14. "Footloose" (new)
Where: Hong Kong
Why: Though the original is a classic, the new version has an incredible cast and some great dance moves. You'll be dancing in front of your screen.
15. "Old School"
Where: Romania
Why: Does Will Ferrell ever disappoint? Well, maybe, but not in 2003.
