As I made my way out of high school, I constantly pondered upon this one question. I asked myself, "What is your passion?" However, I realized passions can be a lot of different things in this world.
Each and every person may have a different passion, however, it's the drive inside of each of us to follow through and exemplify that specific passion. As an 18-year-old entering college, I thought I would never be able to find a real passion.
My thoughts were jumbled, and I felt overwhelmed by the endless possibilities life has to offer. Was I alone on this? Absolutely not. I sat in an auditorium at the beginning of college, listening to a man explain how important it is to find what makes you happy and what you will be successful with. My mind was blank and I felt a pit in my stomach. I had no clue.
I went into college thinking maybe I would fit best at a desk all day calculating numbers. As months went by, I knew I needed to find MY passion. This wasn't my passion.
I searched online, I thought late at night, and I stressed until no end.
I never really minded subjects in school except for Science and Social Studies. I hated those. Reading was not my favorite thing, but I was always good at math. For all you authors and bloggers out there, I definitely understand you.
Writing has become my passion.
I can write when I'm stressed, mad, happy, sad, or even just to write. When I put my pen to the paper, I just let my thoughts pour out. It releases all the stress and tension I am having for the day.
When I first started writing in January, I really enjoyed seeing people connect with what I was speaking about. Whether they may relate to me personally or not, I like to see the connection with others.
Discovering my passion ended up being a great thing for me. Your passion does not have to be what your future career may look like or what summer job you are getting. Your passion can be any hobby or activity that makes YOU happy.
It was definitely not easy finding my passion, but I am so glad I found something I enjoy doing on my spare time. Taking time to yourself each day is very important. You have to enjoy being alone in your own thoughts.
I know how hard it is struggling on your future career path or not really having anything you enjoy doing too much. That is why I want you to find YOUR passion.
You will feel so happy having something you personally enjoy doing to get your mind off other things in life.
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” —Vincent van Gogh
