I've been procrastinating writing this for quite some time. I wanted to publish this the day of the inauguration, but I still wasn't ready. I knew I wanted to write this for months and I didn't know how to put how I feel into words. I still don't. Writing this has been so hard and I really just considered uploading a 10 minute video of me crying at a photo of the Obama administration, but I don't think anyone would've enjoyed that.
Many people have different opinions than mine about Obama and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. We're all entitled to our opinions, aren't we?
If I could thank President Obama in person, I would tell him thank you for allowing me to grow up during a time of compassion and respect. I don't know who I would be without your guidance and your strength you've spread across this country. Without your wife, I feel as though I would be nothing. Having you, your Vice President Joe Biden, and his wife as people I looked up to, is something I wouldn't trade for the world.
Thank you, Obama, for letting my friends love who they want to love. Thank you, Obama, for giving healthcare access to millions of Americans. Thank you, Obama, for caring so much about your fellow Americans. Thank you, Obama, for cheering us up when we found ourselves in dark times. Thank you, Obama, for commuting 1,715 sentences. Thank you, Obama, for showing us what true love looks like. Thank you, Obama, for your willingness to fight for what you believe in and for never giving up.
The next four years are so uncertain, but I'm so proud that I have such incredible role models. President Barack Obama changed who I am and what I believe in. I would never trade that for anything.
