They tell you before you leave for college that your friendships back home will fade once you spend a year away from them. Boy, were they wrong. In my case, I feel as if my friendships with my hometown friends have grown stronger. With all of us spread out throughout the state, even country we leave to appreciate the time we do have together. My friends back home are incomparable to anyone else in my life. I can say with quite certainty that I know these friendships will last forever. Being home with all my friends from home this summer has been amazing. We picked up right where we left off, and nothing really has changed. I really wanted to thank my hometown friends though, for many things, more than I can even count. I'll start with these thank you's though...
Thank you for making it so hard to find friends even comparable to you all in college.
With my standards set so high it was hard at times, and I found myself wishing I was back at home with my friends more often than I would like to admit. However, I managed to find myself some friends in college that are pretty cool peeps.
Thank you for keeping our group chat going all year long.
It was pretty great to hear about all each other's college (and high school) experiences in the group chat all year. It was also very nice that I always had a place I could go to for advice or to vent. Long live the group chat.
Thank you for eating endless amounts of buffalo chicken dip, making bachelorette brackets and listening to Hamilton on repeat with me.
Is there really anything else I need to say about this one?
Thank you for being my personal stylists.
and not hating me when I send 15 outfit choices in the group message asking for opinions.
Thank you for always being there to help me out when I need it the most.
It doesn't matter if we a hundreds of miles away or right down the street, I know that if I come to any of you, you will help.
Thank you for always being right about boys.
Somehow you guys are always right about which boys are bad and are going to break my heart. Even though I don't always listen, thanks for still being there and not saying I told you so.
