October is all about being spooky and scary, and December is all about being festive and generous. What do we do for November?
The second October is over, everyone rushes into Christmas decorations and pretends it's not two months away.
November is beautiful and overlooked all the time, but don't get me wrong I love Christmas and Halloween just as much as the next guy. Thanksgiving is different. It's the one holiday when we come together, shake hands and share a bowl of mashed potatoes. Beautiful.
The very first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 after the pilgrims wanted to celebrate their first harvest in the New World. They feasted for three days. Three full days. They literally had so much food they didn't know what to do with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving_(United_States)
AND on top of that, 90 Native Americans attended this here feast.
Thanksgiving is about coming together as foes, sharing a turkey and leaving as friends. No other holiday is like that.
Nothing beats waking up early to watch the Macy's parade and getting all dressed up to go to Grandma's house and eat your way through turkey, mac 'n' cheese and jello.
November is not about NO SHAVE, or racing to the Black Friday deals before Christmas. The second November 1st arrives Christmas music is on a nonstop flow, and everyone waits for December 25 so anxiously they might melt.
October is known as spooky, and December is the generous, festive month. Don't forget Thankful November, because that's probably the most important one.
