Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year! You've almost made it through the semester and you get to do laundry for free. There are many situations that come with Thanksgiving and it makes us relate even better to Lorelei and Rory Gilmore.
When you prepare to have people over and you aren't used to that level of cleaning...
As a girl, one of my favorite things about dorm life is the fact that you have more clothes to choose from than just your closet and every once in a while you take a friend's clothes home to wear when your own clothes just won't suffice. But when they aren't your own clothes, you have to take extra precautions.
And just to prepare for the amount of food you are going to eat, you decide to skip breakfast because you know the reward will be worth it. You also remember the food that has been at Thanksgiving dinners in the past so you know exactly what and how much to put on your plate. You know exactly who makes the best corn bread and when to take a nap before you eat again.
And even though you have everything planned out perfectly, people question the amount of food you are putting on your plate and how many desserts you end up eating.
You have family members that like to ask you about your goals and your plan for your future.
And the family members that ask you about your love life.
Every once in a while you need some time to recover from all of the food and social interactions, you remember the good ol' Dallas Cowboys game.
And while you are sitting there reflecting on all you are thankful for, sometimes that Luke-like person decides to bring up the historical roots of Thanksgiving.
Later you are sitting there in your food coma and feeling accomplished yet exhausted from the events of the day and THEN someone decides pictures need to be taken...
Then Black Friday rolls around. You think about how many great deals you will get and how fun it will be and then you remember how crazy people get.
But you finally call it a night when the coffee wears off and the crowds are just too much to handle.
After the Thanksgiving high wears off and you are excited about getting relaxation time on your break, your mom asks if you have any homework over break. You remember all you have to do and you are faced with the problem of choosing between homework and relaxation.
But you end up facing the reality that the weekend will have to come to an end and you'll have to go back to reality.
Overall, Thanksgiving would not be the same without these experiences and the most important part is getting to spend time with the people you love.
