Dear Summer,

I heard you’ll be coming to town soon, very soon. I cannot tell you how much I have missed you. More than that, I cannot tell you how grateful I am for what you do to the rainy state of Washington for the few months you come to town.

Thank you for the longer days and warmer nights. I cannot tell you how much I love to sit out and look up at the stars. Thank you for the blistering hot weather. I love how tan you make me during these next few months. I enjoy my summer glow almost as much as all the adventures that I know I will be taking.

Thank you, summer for being the time of the year for road trips and vacations. Thank you for being the time where school takes a break and lets us students enjoy us. Thank you for giving me clear blue skies so that I can hike up a summit or row through a winding river.

Thank you for giving me the time to do something new and exciting. Thank you for bringing campfire season with you as well. Thank you for making the smell of these campfires my summer perfume.

Most of all thank you for bringing my friends and me together for a few months before we have to get back to our busy lives in the Fall. Thank you for giving me the time to spend endless days and nights with my best friends. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to take tremendous risks like maybe falling out of a plane at a few thousand feet.

Summer, you are my favorite time of year. When September comes around and the leaves begin to fade to all the beautiful colors of Autumn I cannot help but feel disappointed. The only thing that keeps me hanging in there is knowing you’ll be back again sometime down the road just like you always are.

Your Friend from Washington,

Sarah Barlow

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
