A Thank You To My Best Friend, My Sister

Two in one, what could be better?

A Thank You To My Best Friend, My Sister
Lucy Ferut

I consider myself a lucky one, to have grown up with four older siblings, but even luckier to have grown closer to each and every one of them. I consider myself a lucky one to have a best friend in each and every one especially out of my big sister who is 3 years older than me, but it honestly feels as if she's the same age sometimes. To have a best friend in a sister is about the greatest gift and here's a few things I have to thank my big sister for doing for me.

Hey sis thanks for:

Playing Mom:

You know those weekends in the summer when mom and dad were sick of us and ditch us and leave us to fend for ourselves. Well it normally ends up in you making us dinner, because I'm incapable of doing so. Thanks for always cooking me turkey burgers, making salads, and then making me pay for ice cream later in return.

Sharing your friends with me:

My friends tend to live a lot further away because of where my school location is, my friends also tend not to be 21 yet. So when the weekend comes and we want to go out, thanks for sharing your friends and letting me tag along. Wait, this has been happening since I was 12 not 21. Hey, thanks for that too, your friends are my friends, my friends are your friends....right? Either way, thanks for always inviting me out to whatever your up to, and guaranteeing a good time with my sis.

For your closet:

I mean this one goes both ways doesn't it? There are endless days where I wake up missing some article of clothing only to learn later you decided to wear it to work and vice versa. Thanks for always sharing, or maybe not sharing but I stole it anyway, your clothes with me. I mean who can beat having two wardrobes at their disposable? Lets be honest, that's one of the hardest parts about leaving for school, is we both loose one half of our closet.

Letting me beat you up, but still loving me:

I feel like this doesn't need much explanation. Whether the fight was because we were actually angry at eachother or just because we were messing around, I usually won. (That's the truth) But no matter what, ten minutes later, or twenty depending on the damage done, you always still loved me. You normally can't find a best friend that lets you beat them up but will still love you, so thanks for that.

Always coming to support me:

I know theatre isn't your strong suit, nor do you understand half of what goes on during the shows, but I can always count on you to be out in the house watching. You did understand soccer and I could always count on you to be out in the stands cheering me on whenever you could be around for a game. Supporting me whenever you could, being my second biggest fan...I don't think anyone can beat mom. Sorry.

Making endless amounts of stories:

We'll keep most of these stories to ourselves, but we have plenty stories, and memories created and none of them would be possible without you.

For being my bestie:

No matter what you're my best friend and my sister, which is the best combination. I always have someone to go out with, stay in with, fight with, and complain to. Thanks for being the bees knees and always watching Highschool Musical on Netflix with me. Your the best sister and best friend a girl could have...we're a pretty great pair.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
