A Letter To My Family, Thanks For Always Being There
Macy Kaiser

Dear Mom, Dad, and Sis,

Where do I even start? There is so much that I have to say in just one letter. Recently, I have become even more thankful than usual for the family that I have. How blessed am I that I get so excited to go home and visit? So many people that I have met throughout my life don’t have the kind of support you all give me. With my future on my mind in the past couple days, I am starting to apply to internships and really think about my future and what I want to do with my life. I know that wherever I go in life, I will be fully loved and encouraged. With that, I can do anything. My whole life, you all have stuck with me through everything and I just wanted to let you know how much it means to me.

Sissy, my sister, my partner in crime, my absolute best friend, thanks for being my shoulder to cry on. You have been there through the friend struggles, the breakups, the failures, and everything in between. For me to ask for a better sister would be impossible. You are beautiful, fun, artsy, athletic, unique, and so much more.

Yes, you are the younger sister, but I look up to you in so many ways. There have been times that I didn’t think I’d be okay, and you are always there to facetime me, quote “Friends,” and then change my mood completely. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be up to date with all the cool songs. So, thanks for keeping me young. You will do huge things and I can’t wait to see what you are going to accomplish. Thank you for being you.

Momma, you are the wisest women I have ever met. You are so patient, loving, and so full of life. Whenever I need some positivity, I always call you. Thank you for listening to all my rants and frustrations. You bear my burdens 24/7 and I don’t know how you do it. Never have I wondered if I was good enough, because you have built me up since I was a little girl. Thank you for teaching me that I need to always be humble, but that confident girls are the prettiest.

I know how to carry myself like a lady because of you. You understand me and know me so well. Constantly, you remind me to not take myself so seriously and to just enjoy life. You are beautiful inside and out and you deserve the world. Thank you for putting up with me and loving me unconditionally.

Dad, you got the last paragraph because I don’t tell you enough how much you mean to me. So, you’re the finale. There is not a better man on this earth. You are the definition of unconditional love. Your heart is so kind and full of ambition. I know that’s where I get my ability to dream big. Without a doubt, I am who I am because of you. Thank you for teaching me not to worry, to keep my word, and to never settle for anything less than I deserve. You taught me my worth.

Thanks for treating all of us with so much care and love, because living in a house with four females (including the dog), has to be tough. You never once complained, you never once gave up. You are everything I strive to be every day. I cannot wait to accomplish big things in the future, because I owe it all to you. Thank you for being a phenomenal father figure in a world where that is such a rare thing.

You three are why I am who I am. Each one of you make up a little part of me. Thanks for always being there, through the good times and the bad. I’m sorry if I’ve ever taken advantage of you, because I am so blessed to have each of you in my life. Just know, that there is no one on this earth that means more to me than you all. Thank you for everything.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
