Now that the semester is starting and summer has come to an end, it's starting to set in that I won't be seeing my friends from home on a regular basis anymore. While college is full of new people, memorable nights, and fun, there's just something about the friends you grew up with that's special. Here's a list of things to thank your friends from home for:
1. For sticking with you through your awkward/ugly phase(s).
Nothing is worse than looking back on old photos from middle school and elementary school and reminding yourself of how weird (and weird looking) you once were. Even though you had braces and a bad haircut, your friends didn't care (probably because they were going through the same thing) and stuck with you.
2. For always giving you something to wear.
You know when you send out a "does anyone have anything I can wear?" text to the group message, everyone will offer for you to look in their closet. It's like having seven different closets. The same is true when you're sleeping over and forgot a shirt to wear to bed. Your friends from home don't think twice about lending you a shirt.
3. Speaking of the group message....
You have the best group message ever with your friends from home. Everyone always sends stupid, goofy stuff because you know each other so well. This is also the perfect place to rant about your everyday problems and ask everyone to hang out. Overall, the group message is super entertaining.
4. For giving you a home away from home.
Every time I walk into one of my friends' houses, it's like I'm in my own house. I know I can use basically anything I want to, I know where everything is, and I can definitely help myself to some food and a drink without any questions asked.
5. For always giving you something to do.
6. For always being there.
While boyfriends and other friends come and go, your friends from home will always be there for you no matter what. Plus, they know you so well that they know how to make you feel better when you're upset or having a bad day. There's always someone to talk to when you need it.
7. For dealing with your craziness.
While you may be crazy, weird, and insane sometimes, they honestly just don't care because they're so used to it.
8. For making you the person you are today.
9. For being a part of your best memories.
10. For paying for your pizza.
There's always someone who forgets their wallet or is a few dollars short when we get food. But, someone's always got you covered.
11. For getting all your jokes and references.
Nothing is worse than when someone doesn't get a movie reference or a joke you tell.
12. For being forgiving.
While you may fight sometimes, it's way too hard to hold a grudge against your friends from home for more than like two days.
