A Thank You Letter To My Sorority Sisters

When coming to college you enter a whole new world. You’re in this new place, surrounded by hundreds of people who you have never met before, and that sense of security that you had at home is fading away.

It’s scary not to have those same friends that have been there for you since the 4th grade by your side anymore, but now they are miles and miles away from you and you have to start all over. It's scary until that moment when you meet the right people who have become everything that you need here in this new world of yours.

Thank you for being my home away from home. My sisters took that sense of security that was slowing fading and brought it back to me. Knowing that you have 40 girls who will be there for you no matter what is the best feeling in the world.

Thank you for showing me that I am not the only one with a hard past. My sisters are the strongest, most caring group of girls that I have ever met. Each and every one of them have their own struggles that they deal with, but no one would ever know. I know that if I ever need a shoulder to cry on I’ll have a bunch to choose from.

Thank you for being such an amazing support system. I know that if I’m nervous about giving a speech my sisters will be the ones cheering me on in the audience. If I’m having a bad day then they will be the ones cheering me up. An honest support system like this, where they truly want to see me happy and doing my best, is hard to come by, but I was lucky enough to find it in this group of girls.

Thank you for making me laugh literally all the time. College is stressful, so having people around you that make you laugh until your stomach hurts is exactly what you need.

Thank you for friendships that will last forever. Three years ago these girls weren’t a part of my life, but now I couldn’t picture my life without them. These friendships will be with me for the rest of my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Thank you for always showing me a good time. There is no one else who I would rather be staying up with all night and enjoying college the way you should be than with my sisters.

Thank you for letting me be exactly who I am. It’s hard to be in this new place and be exactly who you are without feeling like someone is judging you. I have never felt like I needed to be something I’m not to fit in with my sorority. We are all such different people and we are all working together to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you for making my college experience truly unforgettable. I can’t even picture what my life at college would have been like if I didn’t join a sorority. These girls have given me memories that will forever be in my heart.

I love you all. Words can’t describe how much of an impact you have all had on my life.

“It’s not four years, it’s for life.”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
