My people, tribe, posse, squad, friends: this is to you.
Thank you times a million. I tend to blow up your phones with text messages, drag you to Wal-Mart at 11:30 at night so I am not alone, and crash on your couch while you study just so we can hang out. Since I have turned 21, I have begun to realize that true friendship is more than just who you see the most or talk to the most. For me, the people who mean the most to me are not just the people I have known the longest, rather, the people who have shown me time and time again what it means to be a great friend.
Constant encouragement.
Man, I can not imagine how many times you all have to take a deep breath, pinch the bridge of your nose, and throw some positive words my way when I have my mini-meltdowns. But the genuine care and encouraging words you guys give me when I am at my lowest, that is when I realize how much love is in our friendship.
Laughter.
An important quality I look for in anyone is a matching sense of humor. From sitting on the couch watching guys play scary video games on YouTube (you know who are you) to sending funny and/or #relatable memes, thank you for bringing laughter into my life. I know that I think I am the funniest person I know and you, my friend, deserve a medal for laughing at my jokes.
Trust.
I don't share easily, so it is a big deal when I do. Building trust is so hard to do, especially with Snapchat. So if I can trust you with ugly Snapchats and what is going on in my life, you know it is real. I don't take for granted the late night heart to hearts in the car or the fact that you didn't Instagram that awful candid of me. And I hope you know that my heart is so happy to know that you trust me for advice, picking you up late at night, and bringing you food as needed.
So this a huge thank you. You all have made me laugh when I didn't think I had it in me, pushing me to keep trying whether it be with workouts, life goals, or different hairstyles, and just loving me when I am not lovable. You accept my obsession with J.J. Watt (I mean look at him) and are always down to eat with me. You all have shown me time and again that being a friend is one of the best roles in life a person can play. And being your friend is one of my favorites.
