They say you can't pick your family, but even if I could choose I wouldn't have anyone else. Families can dysfunctional, crazy but beautiful and full of love, they are the ones we are tied to for all of our lives. What can I say, I love my family to no end even when it does get a little stressful. By the time I was born, I had 3 sisters ahead of me waiting to teach me the ways of the world. What I didn't know then, was just how lucky I was to have them. I have watched and learned from them, and mostly, I have loved them every step of the way. I love you guys (remember that when you see the twilight picture I used for this article, sorry it's a favorite!) Here is to each one of you.
Thank you for being my role models.
Whether it was watching you play sports, or do well in school, I always looked up to you. You showed me how to become a strong and capable woman. I learned from the best. You showed me how to handle situations before I even experienced them, and it has helped throughout the years. I have watched you accomplish amazing things, and I wanted to be just like you. I'm sure I got annoying over the years, but be flattered, I couldn't wait to grow up to be like you.
Thank you for being my best friends.
Over the years we spent a lot of time together as families do and we bonded. You were there to talk with me about guys, clothes, school, and everything under the sun. Sure there were fights, maybe a lot, but at the end of the day I knew you would be there for me. You helped me through some of my hardest times and you always supported me. You are everything a good friend should be: incredibly honest (especially when I need it), loving, and extremely protective. I knew I had the best friends God could give me.
Thank you for all the things you've done for me.
As the youngest, I never had money growing up because you were all older and had jobs but luckily you helped a girl out so I could tag along. The movies, the dinners, the gifts, you name it. Thank you for spending your time and money for me. As a money making adult now, I especially realize it was probably annoying but thanks for doing it anyway. Thank you for hanging out with me when I was sad and needed some fun, thank you for taking me places and being there for me in my times of need. You didn't choose to have me as a sister, but you loved and protected me. Its what sisters do, and I'm so thankful.
Thank you for making life so amazing.
Ask anyone with sisters, it can be crazy and extremely unpredictable. We are hormonal, snappy and grumpy but it keeps life interesting. There were always surprises with my sisters: exciting news, weddings, celebrations, but there have been bad times too. This is what life is about, experiencing all it has to offer with those who mean the most to you by your side. Our lives have been beautifully crazy and I wouldn't change a thing. I know when I have good or bad news, I share it with you. I know that no matter what life will throw my way, I have you to come to.
As I grow older, I watch my life transform. I see all the experiences I have to look forward to and reflect on those I have already overcome. Through it all, I can't imagine going through it with out my sisters. They have been my rocks, supports, and best friends. Sure it gets dysfunctional, but even so, my sisters have been remarkable role models, best friends, and everything else a good sister should be. I love them, and wouldn't trade them for the world.
