Dear cup(s) of coffee…
Thank you for rescuing me in my times of need. From early morning classes, to late night study sessions. You have my back. Iced or hot, you’re the bomb. Whether I am at a cute café sipping out of the sweetest little mug or hidden away in a study room with a to go cup, you’re a true blessing. But I did not always have a love for you.
Growing up, the thought of drinking you was not choice for me. My mom convinced me early on that I would stunt my growth, and since I always wanted to be tall, I bravely chose to opt out of indulging in a nice hot cup of Joe. This obviously is not true because I am a whopping 5’2” (and proud of it!).
Every time I would go out to eat with my family they would order coffee after every meal. My sister and I would treat ourselves to dessert instead. My mom and dad would sit there and drink the stuff like it was water. I did not understand the fascination people had with coffee. Cup after cup and it did not get old.
The first cup I ever had was at Waffle House. I was in the mood for something hot, but nothing sweet. You seemed like the way to go. I enjoyed that cup to the last drop. I have tried different forms of you since then. Hot or cold, sweet or just black. As it turns out I am a lot like my mom. I enjoy a nice Americano whenever I am at a café, or just black when I am on the go, just like her. I keep it simple and to the point.
Now that I am in college I drink a cup or two (more like three) of you every day. I stay energized and ready to take on anything that could happen. I love the warmth of the cup between my hands and the aroma of pure joy. As I walk around campus from class to class, I notice the variety of mugs and casual conversation. The confidence and energy you bring to all of your consumers is inspiring. You bring people together, creating memories and good times.
As the weather is slowly, but surely starting to cool down, people are going to rely on you even more to get out of their warm beds and venture out into the chilly mornings. I know for me it is so easy to roll over and hit snooze for an extra ten minutes. But with you, who needs to snooze the morning away? With you and the Today show, I know my day will be great!
From Gilmore Girls to Friends, you play a key role. You bring both shows together and help people like me find the two shows relatable and incredibly witty. Maybe one day I will be as committed to you as Lorelai is. Thank you for opening my eyes in the morning and keeping them open all day and well into my late study nights. You are golden and a true gift to all!
Thanks coffee for making my days better and bringing joy to all!
xoxo,
