One of my favorite things about SUNY Fredonia is the number of clubs and activities you can join. The variety of clubs and activities Fredonia has allows every college student to join something they love doing. Joining clubs and activities in college is very beneficial to a college student. It takes up free time when we want it to, but also keeps us busy when we have school work on top of meetings. Joining clubs also brings out your character more as you are joining things that interest you, and you are able to meet others who like the same things as you do. There are many things every college student should be thankful for when it comes to their own clubs.
Fredonia, thank you for allowing me to meet new people. Within the clubs I have joined, I have made friends that will last a lifetime. They are supportive, hard-working, awesome people, and I am thrilled to have them in my life. I look forward to seeing them around campus, getting food with them or hanging out with them. They support me in all my decisions as I do the same for them. They give me positive criticism and are willing to help me with school, personal problems or if I am just having a bad day.
Thank you for allowing me to do what I love. Whether it is an activity or sport you enjoy, or a club related to your major, there is a club for anything. Everyone loves different things. Maybe you love LARPing, soccer, Greek life, etc. There is a club for everyone. Being able to do what you love is awesome, especially if it doesn’t relate to your major. You get to enjoy it, meet new friends and remember all the love you have for that activity.
Thank you for teaching me more about myself. After joining all the clubs you love, you learn more about yourself through the activities and through all the people around you. I have learned more about myself my sophomore year than my freshman year due to the change in clubs I have joined. I have learned how hard-working I am, and how driven I am about the things that mean the most to me.
Thank you for the opportunities you provide me. All clubs come with opportunities regardless if they are big or small. You may be able to get an internship, become a captain or president of the club or you get to build relationships and increase your networking. Right now, I am proud to say I am a captain in one of my clubs, and I am creating a separate project in the other. If these don’t work out as planned, just knowing I was able to have these experiences is amazing.
So, thank you for all the opportunities, friendships and helping me discover my passions when classes could not.
