I Would Be Lost Without You Both

A Thank You Letter To My Parents

I could probably write a novel or two and still not be done thanking my parents for everything they have done and continue to do for me. As I grow older I am beginning to understand more and more of the things my parents do, the sacrifices they make, and the love that they have given me over the years. Their love and care never goes unnoticed, but sometimes I do not say thank you as much as I should.

Thank you for your love.

I have come to realize that the love of a parent is like no other. Parents will love you no matter what, and they will continuously be there for you when you are in need. This is something I take for granted sometimes, so thank you so much for always loving me even when I am undeserving of your love.

Thank you for your patients.

I know me and the brothers were hard headed kids growing up, and we still can be. Thank you for being patient and very slow to anger.. There are many mistakes that I have made, and many more that I will make in the future. Thank you for understanding that I am not perfect and for accepting me for who I am, including my flaws.

Thank you for giving me a better life than you had.

I know both of you have worked so hard to give me everything they had, and everything you didn't have. You both have put in the extra mile to make sure that I am happy and you guys give me so much more than I have ever been deserving of. I couldn't begin to explain how much that means. I can only hope that I can do the same for my future children, and I love and thank you a million times.

Thank you for the morals you raised me with.

Thank you for raising me in a Christian home, and for showing me right from wrong. Yes, I am still learning and I am still growing, but the morals and beliefs that you both raised me and the boys with have definitely made a difference in who we are and who we are becoming.

Lastly. Thank you for being YOU.

You both are 'one of a kind' parents. Even parents make mistakes, and you guys would be the first ones to admit that if you were asked. That's what makes you so special to me. You are human, yet you both are super heroes. You guys have made me realize how important it is to have a strong knitted family, and how important it is to be loved. Thank you for continuously doing all of the things listed, and much, much, more. I couldn't ask for better parents.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
