Being at college for close to a month now has made me realize how important of a role my mom plays in my life. It's the little things. She yells at me when my room isn't clean, which makes me second guess having things scattered around my room at school. She gets mad at me when she makes something for dinner and I won't eat it, which makes me regret not eating home-cooked meals when I have the chance. She doesn't give me money for stuff I want just because I ask for it, which taught me to work for the things that I want. She is content with all my friends liking her more than me, which shows me that an almost 60-year-old woman can be cooler than a 20-year-old.
Thank you for not getting mad at me when I ask for a water cup at a restaurant and put soda in it. Thank you for letting me take the better of the two cars when I want to go somewhere. Thank you for supporting me at all of my games because you know it is something that means so much to me. Thank you for being my sunshine. Thank you for loving me to the moon and back always. Because even though I don't show it always, you're the best person in my life no matter what.
So thank you, Mom. For the little things and the big things that make you my role model and best friend. And even though not all those who wander are lost, I'd be lost without you.
