Dear Boys,
I know I’m a pain in your asses, but I have two very important words that I want to say to you — thank you. You’ve made me laugh and have been the older brothers I wish I had. You have been there for me when I needed you the most. From friendship problems to my boy issues, you’ve been there through it all. There have been times when I came to you close to crying, stressed out or just plain angry, and you both (somehow by the grace of God) got me to a calm and slightly normal state again. You both taught me so much about college, people and life, and it’s for these lessons that I really thank you.
College was the first big lesson you both taught me about. There are some lessons that had to be experienced on my own, and the both of you have helped me with these lessons. For example, having to go to class at 8 a.m. when I really didn’t want to. Not only did I not want to go to my 8 a.m., but also the subject matter nearly put me to sleep. Thank you for listening to me while I ranted about my professor.
Another thing I really should thank you for is giving me advice on roommates. I remember you telling me to just wait it out when it came to roommates. Now, I wish you both would have warned me about people who were not good for me, but you live and learn.
People come and go, but I really thank you for putting up with my craziness. There are people that I should have gotten your advice on; people who I thought were my friends, but it turns out they weren’t or they were just using me. Thank you for being my saving graces, and I know I could count on you for being there when I needed advice on someone or how to handle a person I didn’t like. Also, when there were boy issues and problems, I knew that I could count on you for advice and for being a shoulder to cry on.
The important lesson you both taught me is about life. You taught me that life keeps going, whether I want it to or not. I just have to deal with whatever comes to me whether it’s good or bad. I know you both will be happy for me when I do something good, and I will be ready for a lecture when I do something bad, stupid or a combination of the two. It’s amazing to know that I have people like you to support me by my side.
So, again I repeat the two important words that I mentioned earlier — thank you. You both have taught me things that I didn’t know about others and myself. You both have helped me grow as a person with all the lessons you unknowingly taught me. Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Your favorite pain in the ass
