Dear College Friends,
The first day of college was one of the most stressful days of my life. I was attending a school most people from my hometown have never even heard of, and as a freshman, I didn't know a single person. Somehow, I overcame my nerves and forced myself to talk to the people around me. After becoming involved in a few organizations on campus, my confidence soared and I started to make friends, just like YOU!
As I reflect back on the last few months, I want to write this letter to everyone who has entered my life recently. Although I haven't known you for long, your friendships mean the world to me. Here's just a few of the things I'm thankful for.
Thank you for wanting to know me.
Everyone knows the drill of icebreakers that consist of stating your name, hometown, and major (as if that's all the important information one needs to know about a person). You're the ones who wanted to know more than just the facts. Our friendships grew because we didn't stop after those simple icebreakers. We wanted to truly know each other and wanted to learn about each other's interests, hobbies, personalities, goals and quirks.
Thank you for joining me for adventures.
You're the ones who join me in getting spontaneous late night snacks, which will always create memories. I love the time we spend together, even if it's just grabbing lunch or dinner in between classes. My favorite nights are our movie/game nights filled with quality time off our phones. I love getting to talk with each of you face to face and have a real conversation. Thank you for being willing to go on those adventures alongside me.
Thank you for supporting me.
You're willing to listen and that means the world to me. I've known you less than a year, yet we talk like we've been friends forever. When I complain about frustrations in a class or why my schedule isn't working this week, you're the ones who truly listened and even offered advice to resolve the situations.
Thank you for being there for me during the biggest transition of my life thus far. I can't wait to see where our friendships will grow in the future, and I can't wait to make a million more memories with each and every one of you!
