A Thank You Letter To Those Who Helped Me Survive Freshman Year

With just under 3 weeks left of my freshman year! I want to thank all of the people that have helped me survive.

To my friends that I have made: I cannot thank you enough for being there for me, and for all of the fun memories that we have made. From sitting in the dining hall for hours just talking, to having spontaneous movies nights where we watch low rated horror movie and make fun of them—these are the memories that I will always remember. When first arriving on campus we all were feeling the same way; frightened from not knowing anyone, shy and even anxious. All of the bonding activities that we were subjected to only helped us all find each other and become friends! Having you guys as friends has helped my freshman year fly by, and I cannot thank you enough. We laugh and cry together, and we are always there for one another. Thank you guys for helping me survive freshman year and I cannot wait to see what lies in the future.

To my roommate: Thank you for living with me for an entire year and putting up with my crazy ways! I will always remember the late night conversations that we have had, and the conversations where we just can’t stop laughing. Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on when I have been overwhelmed with all of the schoolwork I have, and other life issues. I will always remember our crazy food cravings at 12 in the morning, where I would wake up to you randomly trying to eating an apple quietly, which just ended up in both of us laughing so hard we could not breathe. Thank you for all of the fashion advice even if it’s at 8 a.m. and all we want to do is go back to bed. Having you as a roommate has been the best experience in my life, because let’s just say living with each other was an experience. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us and even though we won’t be roommates next year, just know that you will always see me around and I bet we will be in each other’s room at some point.

To the upperclassman: You guys have helped me feel welcome to school and the new experiences that come with college! Thank you for all of the advice of what classes to take and what to do around campus! Thank you for the new friendships that I have formed with you and the leadership that you have given me.

A final thank you is to my team: Thank you guys for helping my freshman year of playing a college sport a great one! Thank you for the memories we have made while traveling to different places! I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us! And to the graduating senior; good luck and stay in touch—you will be missed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
