To all of my professors this last semester,

I just wanted to thank you for helping me out of over the course of this semester.

Now that all the pain of completing homework and projects and worrying about test grades is done with, I feel like I can look back on it all with a little more appreciation. At the beginning of the semester, looking at everything I had to complete before the semester ended seemed overwhelming. You obviously believed I'd be able to do it and I shouldn't be surprised to find that you were right. I appreciate the confidence you had in my abilities because it gave me confidence in myself.

Also, thank you for holding me to high expectations.

As much as I would love being able to coast through all of my classes for easy A's, I probably learned more doing it the hard way. You made it so I had to actually use my critical thinking skills rather than just repeating memorized facts back to you on tests. Again, it was way more effort than I was comfortable with but in the long run, I found that I understood what we learned much better because of it.

Another think I wanted to thank you for was for being available and eager to help.

The stuff I wasn't understanding in class was the same stuff I would be able to ask you about in your office later. Even though the help I got from you wasn't what I wanted, it was the most helpful. Rather than just giving me the answers to the questions I was asking, you asked me other questions to help me get to the answer I needed. Even though I usually had no idea what either of us were saying, by the end of my time in your office, I had a much better grasp as to what was going on.

Thank you for being okay with my procrastination.

I've always been fabulous at procrastination and it was nice to not have someone constantly pestering me about getting things turned in. Believe me, I'll turn everything in but it will be last minute.

At the same time, thank you for not letting me forget deadlines.

Those last few weeks of the semester, I was not motivated to do anything. Like, anything. I was officially done with everything and all I wanted to do was hang out with friends and watch movies. Basically, I was more than ready for summer where I didn't have to worry about any responsibilities. So the little reminders here and there about future project due dates and tests kept me aware of what I still needed to do. Otherwise, I probably would have completely forgotten all about it.

If you haven't picked up on it yet, I really appreciate all you do to make sure I am the most successful student I can be. Thank you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
