Dear Vicky,

It may seem odd that I'm writing to you since you don’t know me. You may not even remember this, but you saved my mom’s life 22 years ago.

My mom tells me the story of an amazing nurse each year. This nurse saved her life after she gave birth to me. The story begins with how she went into labor the day before I was born.

Late the next night, I arrived, and she was so happy to see me. Due to complications during delivery, she was too weak to even hold me. The story gets scarier as she describes everything going black, and all she remembers is you.

If you hadn’t been there in that moment, my mom may have died.

Over the years, the story hit me harder each time I heard it. Each year I appreciate you more and more for what you did. I realized how different my life would have been if you hadn’t been there.

Today, I look at my siblings, and I can’t imagine my life without them. If my mom had passed that day, they would not exist. It’s weird to think I could have a completely different family.

Of course, I would love that family just the same, but I can’t picture my life without the family I have now.

Thank you for allowing my two sisters and my brother to be in my life. My siblings are everything to me.

Vicky, if you had not saved my mom that day, there is a chance I could have grown up without a mother. I can’t even begin to picture my life without my mom. She is the ultimate super mom.

I need her every day and every moment. She has a special way of balancing everything and everyone’s demands. She never complains when we drive her crazy. My mom is selfless and puts our family before herself.

I am thankful for you being there that day.

As I think about what could have happened, I realize my dad would have been impacted the most.

He would have been left to raise a newborn on his own.

He would have suffered greatly if it hadn’t been for you. You saved him from losing his wife. Thank you for sparing my dad that pain and loneliness.

I will forever be grateful for you saving my mom's life.

I am thankful for God giving you the graces to act quickly that frightening day. If you hadn’t, so many lives would have been ruined.

My grandparents would have lost a daughter. My mom’s siblings would have lost a sister. The trail of loss would continue, if it hadn’t been for you, Vicky.

Thank you for saving my mom’s life.

Sincerely,

Christina

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
